I've been pimping the Baltimore Ravens' offensive line for most of the preseason, but they've had two less-than-stellar efforts in consecutive games. It's one thing if Drew Olson is getting creamed in the pocket, it's entirely something different when it's Steve McNair. The Ravens won't have much trouble finding somebody to run the scout team; finding someone to run the first-team offense is a lot more difficult than it appears (right, Brian Billick?).
After watching the first half last night, it will be interesting to see if McNair lasts the entire season. He took some shots right from the opening whistle, and almost got knocked out from a high shot that Redskins safety Sean Taylor attempted but missed in the second quarter. But as the Baltimore Sun's Mike Preston writes in today's edition, it wasn't just the o-line that struggled last night: running backs were missing assignments too.
It's important to remember that left tackle Jonathan Ogden has yet to play (though he should be ready for the regular season), and other than center Mike Flynn, the unit is one of the youngest in the league. It's way too early to start wondering if Adam Terry, Chris Chester, Ben Grubbs and Jared Gaither are overrated -- they'll be fine ... in time -- but that doesn't do much for Steve McNair's ability to remain upright in the near term. Kyle Boller, you're a play away!

McGahee missed an assignment? Next you're going to tell me that he's not big on protection in the bedroom either.
