Mark Chmura is probably my all-time least-favorite NFL player. Chmura's off-field conduct wasn't as bad as Rae Carruth's or anything, but there's just something that rubs me the wrong way about the hypocrisy of a guy who goes around talking about the importance of family values, right up until a teenager says he raped her at a post-prom party. (He was acquitted of rape; no one disputes that he was a married man in his 30s hanging out in a hot tub with drunk teenage girls.)So it was a little stunning to me to learn from Rumors and Rants that if you take a trip to Lambeau Field, you can still see people wearing Mark Chmura jerseys. Really, Packer fan? That's the guy whose name you want across your back?
I get that sometimes fans buy jerseys and things don't work out the way they thought. My own bad jersey choices include a Barry Sanders jersey right before he retired and a Terrell Davis jersey right before he blew out his knee. But it's time to put the Chmura jersey in that dark corner of your closet where no one will ever see it. He's a lousy human being, and besides, he hasn't played in eight years. Someone get this guy a Donald Lee jersey or something.

You know, it's bloggers like you who give sports writers a bad name.
I get that you hate Chmura and I even understand why you hate him. In fact, I will go a step further and say that I, too, would burn, shred or slice a Mark Chmura jersey into unrecognizable pieces if I had owned one.
But not everyone sees the connection between Mark Chmura the person and Mark Chmura the football player. Passing your little moral judgment on others because they don't think the way you do is rather emblematic of someone like Bill O'Reilly or any member of the current Bush administration.
Oh, and Ronnie Lott hasn't played football for the Niners since 1990 and I still wear his jersey.

First off, i thought Jack's Raging Bile Duct was a complete douchebag in his first 3 paragraphs before he confirmed it for me in his 4th.
Secondly, I went to school with a girl who was in that hot tub with Mark Chmura. She told me she was literally exiled from Green Bay for it because he was such a beloved figure that the victims were blamed for the issue. There was such a smear campaign directed at them that she left town...they called her a "Chmura Girl" at school.
Rape is indefensible. F- that guy and his jersey.

Adam,
Didn't the hot tub incident happen in Waukesha, not Green Bay?
I think a lot of the people wearing Chmura (or Majkowski or Madnarich) jerseys are just making a joke. Of course, I do give Packer fans credit for our loyalty. We love our Packers like we love our children, not because they're good, but because they're ours. What bugged me most about Chmura wasn't that he was kind of a scumbag, it's that he was a hypocrite. Before the hot tub incident, he refused to go meet President Clinton because he thought he was immoral. Also, a lot of people still wear Reggie White jerseys too, and it's very clear that he was an unapologetic bigot. They were great football players though.

I could cares less about a man that does those things he is below my comment.
but on the subject of jerseys being over priced and easily lost to you when a player switches teams or does something that you would no longer want wear his jersey IE go to another team like the viqueens
that is why I only wear the name Star on the back of my jerseys Good old Bart will never leave the packers and I don't see him being in hot tubs with under age girls.

First of all ... you said 'aquitted' so lay off the guy. Second ... you almost sound a bit jealous that some young thing doesn't have you in a hot tub.
Mark Chmura's career was ruined by some bad judgments on his part, and that's a punishment he will live with for the rest of his life. I think he's had enough.
Oh, and for the record, I never cared for Mark Chmura before he was accused of rape.
