I have to say, that as an Illinois fan I've never exactly been a big booster of Indiana basketball, and when Kelvin Sampson and the Hoosiers took Eric Gordon away from Champaign I was pretty angry. In fact, I was very angry, but in the back of my mind there was a little voice that helped keep me from going insane with rage. That voice kept saying to me, "Don't worry, Tom. Kelvin is going to get that program in trouble somehow, and karma will set everything straight."
It appears that karma has finally caught up to Sampson once again. According to ESPN's Andy Katz, the NCAA is going to announce some major violations against Sampson and Indiana on Wednesday.
The NCAA sent a notice of allegations to Indiana University last Friday detailing major violations in the men's basketball program, multiple sources told ESPN.com.Indiana AD Rick Greenspan took a big chance when he brought Sampson to Bloomington, where he left Oklahoma dealing with the ramifications of his active fingers. Now it seems that the Hoosiers are going to pay a hefty price for taking that chance.
Larry MacIntyre, assistant vice president for university communications at Indiana University, confirmed to ESPN.com that the school did receive documentation from the NCAA last week.
The Associated Press reported on Tuesday night that the school will make the allegations public on Wednesday. University trustees president Stephen Ferguson told AP that school officials this week reviewed the report, but that the NCAA is not expected to make its ruling until this summer.
(Thanks to Inside The Hall, which is a pretty good blog considering it's about Indiana basketball)

It's simple for Indiana U..the no tolerance policy..they have Dan Dachich on hand..let him take over and then you will have an IU man on board.

Mr. Fornelli -- First of all, all of you Illini fans have to get over the Eric Gordon deal. There was no stealing away, improper happenings, or anything else with EJ going to IU. He had only VERBALLY committed to Illinois. He had never signed a contract. HS athletes make verbals, then change their all the time. Had Mike Davis not been there, EJ wouldn' have considered Illinois in the first place. Now, as far as the NCAA investigation, it doesn't surprise me. As an IU fan, this is potentially horrible news. Despite what anyone thinks of RMK, he ran a clean program and this wouldn't be happening. If IU has still employs there zero-tolerance policy, then KS has to be gone immediately. If this happens, a great season is down the tubes. IU b-ball is washed up. Armageddon is coming.

say what you want about "the general", but at least he ran a clean program, despite his obvious faults. this is too bad for hoosiers fans, especially with the success they are having this season.

IU fans, don't think for a minute that a good share of the in question illegal phone calls made by KS didn't go to the EG camp. And whats with the hiring of persons connected to EG? Yes, a kid can change his mind but there is dirt all over IU's recruitment of EG. Most of the bad blood over EG could have been avoided if he, his father and or KS had shown some integrity by being honest about contact between EG and IU from the beginning instead of waiting seven months and by doing so harming Illinois recruitment of other players. True justice will only be served if IU is banned from the NCAA tournament this season.

I knew something like this would happen...I like Sampson as a coach, but every coach I talk to says he's the dirtiest coach behind Calipari at Memphis. Here's who we should get: Scott Drew
Scott Drew is a Penn High grad and went to Butler. He was an ast. at Valpo before going to Baylor. He took over Baylor when they were on probation and banned from TV & post season play. He turned them into a top 25 team in only a few years. He also has a guy from Michigan City and former Bethel player(I think his name is Brand) as a graduate ast. right now.
He is definitely familiar with taking over a program that is in trouble with the NCAA...

I think the real culprit here is the IU AD. He hired Sampson right in the middle of Sampson being investigated by the NCAA. How stupid was that? IU needs someone who understands Indiana b-ball tradition. Obviously the IU AD does not. I think Sampson has to go. IU needs a native Hoosier. Let's get a campaign going among IU fans to hire Scott Drew. A proven winner with great integrity.
