All it takes is a glance at the standings to know that the first quarter of 2008 didn't go the way the Milwaukee Brewers would've liked. Yovani Gallardo's out at the rotation behind him has fallen apart, Eric Gagne's been a huge bust, and the team that was supposed to contend with the Cubs for the NL Central title is limping along at 20-24 and in last place in the NL Central. Things are getting so bad, Ryan Braun's starting to question his team's effort. From the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel's Brewers Blog: He actually keeps going and going and going, so read the whole thing if you're a fan of train wrecks. It's pretty rare for a second year player like Braun (who's on fire right now after a semi-slow start) to call out his team like this and I don't imagine that it's going to go over all that well in the clubhouse. People will likely take this as a sign that Ned Yost has lost his clubhouse. I don't know if that's true, but when a player is questioning his teammates' effort in public, the manager probably isn't long for this world."I almost felt like this series, we didn't expect to win," Braun said after the 11-7 defeat that dropped the Brewers into sole possession of last place in the NL Central with five consecutive losses. "We were competing; I know everybody tried hard. But it's not about trying hard. You've got to expect to win. I almost feel like we never really expected to win any of these games. I just kind of had that feeling.
"It's just a feeling. Every time we were winning, I just didn't feel we expected to win. It was like we were just content to be there and compete. I don't think we necessarily expected to win."

Ryan Braun is completely accurate, and I'm pissed. I'm 66 and I have nothing to do but play golf and follow Wisconsin sports. This year I expected the Brewers to run away with the division.
Prince Fielder doesn't like his contract. Why didn't he negotiate like Braun did? Answer: He wants to play in L.A. or NYC. He's a lazy, fat slob. He didn't disown his father; his father disowned HIM.
Well, I am a single 66 year old, I bought a new home and a Border Collie; now, I can just run, fish and take care of my house; but, there is no way I won't support Ryan Braun, because he is a class act. He's not like 'you know,' you know,' 'you know,' Fielder. Thank God and remotes, because I'm sick and tired of hearing that lazy mo fo bro say 'You know.'
Trade the shit now so you can get a decent pitcher and get Ned Yost gone (he looks too much like George Bush) - he pulls his best pitchers on pitch count. Look at Warren Spahn's stats; if you think I'm old and out of touch look at Tony Francona leaving Josh Beckett in after the Brewers hit four home runs off him, because, as Ryan said, the Brewers don't play to win; Tony and the Red Sox DO!
