BALTIMORE (AP) -- Michael Phelps was driving an SUV that collided with another car in Baltimore Thursday night, but the Olympic gold medal swimmer was not injured, police said.The female driver of a Honda Accord was "shaken up" and taken to a local hospital as a precaution, police said. Two passengers in Phelps' Cadillac Escalade were not injured, said police spokesman Anthony Guglielmi.
Guglielmi says Phelps has been interviewed by police and alcohol was not a factor. No citations were issued and the accident was being investigated, with a report perhaps available Friday, Guglielmi said.
Phelps won eight gold medals at the Beijing Olympics.
Phelps' SUV had a crumpled hood and was on a tow truck. The gray Accord had considerable damage on the front driver side.
Most recently Phelps earned five golds and a silver over eight days at the world swimming championships earlier this month.

It caught your attention! Micheal is a very talented swimmer and like all sports/entertainment figures people are interested in his life. I wish all you haters out there would just be happy that no one was seriously injured instead of talking about him smoking pot!

i guess ignorance is bliss.... you cant "check thc levels" in a person.... you can do a drug test and if they have smoked marijuana in the past few weeks..... but drug tests dont say anything about if they were impaired at any single time..... you could not smoke marijuana for a month, smoke a big fat blunt and go take a drug test high as a kite and you will pass.... talk about what you know and know what youre talking about

I'll bet he was high as a muther, Just kidding, I like Phelps, Phelps crashed a car, whose kid hasen't. If he's crashing one every other day then there is a problem. He should go to hollywood crash into Britanny spears. What would the medeia do then. He should crash into her at Michael Jacksons Grave, they would have helicopters in the air to cover that.

It is a dangerous thing to be a prodigy. Before Michael Phelps it was the media that drove Bobby Fischer nuts starting from age 14. Now it's Phelps turn. These two I compare only becuase they had really messed up childhoods and were probably the greatest chessplayer and swimmer of all time. They did America ptoud, but we all like to cast stones of course. The last time I remember there was only one perfect man that walked this Earth. And oh yeah, we didn't drink beer illegally and smoke cigarettes chase girls or do anything these kids are doing now when we were young. I forgot.
