UFC 110 Video: Wanderlei Silva Talks Michael Bisping Fight


Wanderlei Silva has confirmed that he will fight Michael Bisping (not Yoshihiro Akiyama, as previously reported) at UFC 110. And he uploaded a video to his YouTube chanel explaining why this fight is so important to him.

UFC Targeting Georges St. Pierre vs. Dan Hardy for UFC 111 in March

Georges St. PierreThe UFC is targeting a March 2010 date for welterweight champion Georges St. Pierre's title defense with No. 1 contender Dan Hardy, a source with knowledge of the situation told FanHouse.

Once formally agreed to by both sides, the matchup would likely be the main event of UFC 111, which is expected to take place at the Prudential Center in Newark, N.J.

The 28-year-old St. Pierre (19-2) is one of MMA's hottest commodities after signing major sponsorship deals with Gatorade and Under Armour within the last year. He has been out of action since injuring his groin during the course of a successful defense against Thiago Alves at July's UFC 100.

UFC 106 Sells 6,631 Tickets, WEC 44 Pushes 1,132

UFC 106 on Nov. 21 raked in $3,003,250 in ticket sales at the Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas, while WEC 44 on Nov. 18 drew a live gate of $131,200 at the nearby Pearl at the Palms.

UFC 106 made its three-plus million-dollar gate by selling 6,631 tickets, but the event was not a sell-out for the rematch event for former light heavyweight champions Tito Ortiz and Forrest Griffin. The UFC gave away 3,898 tickets valued at $2,331,250 and left 223 tickets unsold.

Forrest Griffin was in a celebratory mood after beating Tito Ortiz at UFC 106. But he acknowledged that he still looks back and feels badly about the way he fought the last time he stepped into the Octagon, a first-round technical knockout loss at the hands of Anderson Silva.

UFC 106 Medical Suspensions

Forrest Griffin, who revealed to the crowd a broken foot injury following Saturday's UFC 106 fight in Las Vegas, will be required to have his right foot x-rayed and cleared by a doctor or he will not be allowed to compete until May 21, 2010.

Griffin, who won a split decision over Tito Ortiz, received a minimum suspension of 30 days with no contact for three weeks.

Kimbo Announced for TUF 10 Finale

Kimbo Slice will make his official UFC debut on the televised card of The Ultimate Fighter 10 Finale on Dec. 5 at The Pearl at the Palms Casino Resort in Las Vegas, Spike TV announced Monday.

An opponent has not been announced, as there are still two hours of programming left and Slice is still being teased as an injury replacement, but numerous reports have stated that the brawler will meet fellow heavy hitter Houston Alexander at the finale in a catch-weight bout of 215 pounds.

Cain Velasquez Ready for Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira or Shane Carwin

Cain Velasquez was supposed to face Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira at UFC 108, but "Big Nog" recently had to pull out due to a severe staph infection. And with Brock Lesnar's recent health troubles keeping the heavyweight champion on the sidelines for an indefinite period of time, Velasquez told FanHouse that he doesn't know if his next opponent will be Nogueira or Shane Carwin and whether an interim title will be on the line.

The undefeated heavyweight contender also talked about his recent victory over Ben Rothwell, dealing with the media and his dream of fighting in Mexico. Check out the video interview below.

UFC 106 Fighter Salaries: Forrest Griffin Ties Tito Ortiz With $250,000 Payday

Forrest Griffin and Tito Ortiz each earned $250,000 for their main event fight at Saturday's UFC 106 in Las Vegas.

Griffin's total prize included a $150,000 bonus for winning the fight, while Ortiz's salary remained at $250,000.

Griffin avenged a April 2006 loss to Ortiz by returning the favor with a split decision win after three rounds. When the two first met at UFC 59, Ortiz earned $200,000 for the win while Griffin earned only $16,000.
