Stosur beats Schiavone in Japan Women's Open

OSAKA, Japan -Australia's Samantha Stosur won the Japan Women's Open on Sunday for her first WTA singles title, beating Italy's Francesca Schiavone 7-5, 6-1.
Stosur, seeded third and ranked 15th in the world, broke the fourth-seeded Schiavone's serve to go up 3-1 in the second set and dominated the rest of the way to close out the match in 1 hour, 8 minutes.
Stosur beat top-seeded Caroline Wozniacki on Saturday in the semifinals.
Schiavone dropped to 1-10 in tournament finals.
