ANN ARBOR, Mich. -Former Michigan coach Lloyd Carr says it's "ridiculous" to say he doesn't support Rich Rodriguez.
Carr spoke Saturday on Rodriguez after declining interview requests about his successor. Carr, who retired after the 2008 season, said he simply didn't want to interfere with Rodriguez or the current program.
Former Michigan quarterback Rick Leach lashed out at Carr during a recent interview on WTKA radio for sitting in a box with Iowa supporters two weeks ago when the Hawkeyes beat the Wolverines. Carr said "there's things I can't control" when asked to respond Leach's comments during halftime of the Penn State-Michigan game.
Retiring athletic director Bill Martin said he had "a great lunch" this week with Carr and Rodriguez.
