PORT JEFFERSON, N.Y. (March 31) - Police say a Long Island gymnastics coach has been arrested and fired after giving a 14-year-old student a bottle of rum, apparently as a reward for nailing a difficult maneuver. The girl was hospitalized after drinking it.
Suffolk County police say Steven Lamensdorf has been released on $500 bond after his arrest Tuesday on charges of child endangerment and unlawfully dealing with a child.
Police say the 22-year-old gave the teenager the Malibu rum on Friday. She has since been treated and released from a hospital.
Police say Spins Gymnastics Academy, in Port Jefferson, fired Lamensdorf over the incident.
Telephone messages left at the academy and Lamensdorf's Mount Sinai home Tuesday evening haven't immediately been returned.
Police aren't sure whether he has a lawyer.

He was trying to get her "loosened" up so the sexual assault he was about to commit would go a little easier. Pedophile in the making.

I blame the girls parents, I blame the organization that hired that coach. I blame the coach who bought the Rum. If he is buying her rum, what else are they doing. He is 22, she is getting drunk. probably not the first time. What are her parents doing? watching tv. maybe getting drunk with her. Dont worry it will all be on lifetime before its over. then well know the rest of the story :-)

Let us hope you never have children, or if you do have them, I pity them- how wouldyou like a coach to give your 14 year old daughter rum? And she had to go to the hospital- it was that serious. Parents should teach their children to drink responsibly? How wrong you are in your thinking.

Sorry for the typos in my previous reply. Let's try again.

Let's see now. The Coach was Only 22... a fully grown man who was entrusted to give guidance to a 14 year old CHILD. Only a MORON can excuse him and blame only her parents. . a MORONIC MORON..
