HAMILTON, Ohio (Nov. 12) - A young Cincinnati Bengals fan has been penalized for clipping.
Dustin Reader got the NFL team's stripes and "B" insignia cut into his hair as a tribute to the team's good season.
When he showed up to school in the southwest Ohio city of Hamilton on Monday, officials put the eighth-grader into in-school suspension. The school says its code of conduct prohibits extreme and distracting hairstyles.
Reader's parents and barber say they don't understand why the haircut is out of bounds. His father says his son just wants to show pride in the 6-2 Bengals.
School officials say he will continue to do his studies away from other students until the hair grows back or he changes the style.

Yes, we have rules for a reason. However, this is not a good reason. It's being nit-picky and it's just simply unnecessary. It's a pointless rule that ends up affecting those that should not be affected by it.

If someone doesn't like his haircut, then they need to grow the *******.

Rules are rules. Those who think rules such as this are stupid lack a basic understanding of what it takes to keep one 8th grader in line - let alone 500 8th graders. Give in on something like this and the next thing that happens is that you "will" have kids in there with gang signs or worse yet, some ACLU lawyer will arrive on the scene to sue the school over some BS charge.

Sure DBG07. Why not just feed your own child the same line? The child can then go to school and make disparaging and disrespectful comments to the adult teachers and administrative staff just like the parent. Ultimately your child will get thrown out of school. Then YOU can teach your child. After all, 'teachers don't know more than the man or woman on the street." Surely you can do a better job. Better yet, why not obtain your degree and become a teacher, since they know so little.
