SEATTLE -Commissioner Roger Goodell says he is beginning to focus on evaluating Michael Vick's future in the NFL.
But Goodell said Thursday his decision on the former Atlanta Falcons star quarterback will come "in due time" and not necessarily before the season begins.
"I haven't given a timeline," on a decision about reinstatement, Goodell told The Associated Press during a telephone interview.
Goodell says he has yet to speak to Vick, and won't sit down with him until after Vick is released July 20 from home confinement and federal custody.
Vick is currently suspended from the league because of his involvement in a dogfighting ring.

He did not "make a mistake", and I am so damn sick of that argument. HE CHOSE to do what he did. The dog fighting, the gambling, he KNEW what he was doing. He is only sorry cause he got CAUGHT. So I say, do not let him play.

I did not insult anyone, I have a life (social and otherwise), and I do not consider myself dull or stupid. So YOUR insult probably was not aimed at me. However, I must inform you that you misspelled "moron".

Grow up and get a life! Just because you are dull and stupid, and have no social life, doesn't mean you have to insult people that do. GET A LIFE MORAN!

Michael Vick did not make a mistake. A mistake is something a person does accidentally. There was nothing accidental about financing and participating in a brutal, cruel and inhumane endeavor such as dogfighting.
Let us not forget that the dogfighting wasn't Vick's first transgression. His alter ego, "Ron Mexico", had unprotected sex with a woman several years ago, even though he knew he was infected with the herpes virus. Of course, the woman (now also infected) should have known better than to have sex with a stranger, so she isn't blameless. But she will pay the consequences of her carelessness for the rest of her life.
Vick also tried to smuggle marijuana through an airport checkpoint in his special water bottle a few months before the dogfighting business came to light.
Don't try to pass Michael Vick off as someone who "made a mistake". He is "Bad Newz".

Mike Vick made a mistake by breaking the law. He served his time and should be allowed to continue living his life. I know of many cases of people getting caught dog fighting, and didn't serve no where near the time Vick did. He was made the poster boy for animal cruelty. Hunters shoot harmless deers and ducks, but that's called sports. People molest and abuse kids and are not treated as bad as Vick. Give it a rest already.

DennisDante- let's throw you in a ring with some of those "stupid dogs" that were victims of Michael Vick and see how it feels to have your face literally ripped off. Think that would be fun? Keep supporting Vick - you are no better than him by doing it!

and I'm not one of those Peta freaks- I just know right from wrong and there is no excuse for a grown adult to abuse any animal or any living creature that way!!!

"MyOptionsAreOpen"-- you are so terribly misinformed about Pitbulls. I own 3 pitbulls that I adopted from shelters. These animals are NOT mean, short fused dogs by nature. They are made that way by HUMANS- LIKE MIKE VICK who train them from the time they are puppies to be mean and fearful. They have NO CHOICE but to fight for their lives from the time they are BABIES!!!!! it infuriates me that ignorant people like yourself write this crime off as an "oh well- they were pitbulls, they were mean anyway." NO NO NO absolutely not true. Yes there are dogs (of ALL BREEDS, MIND YOU) that have nasty dispositions that do not, for whatever reason like other animals or people, but PLEASE do not categorize all pitbulls as being mean. My dogs are lovable, love people and other animals and would not hurt a flea. They go to the dog park and play with other dogs weekly. They LOVE kids. They are used by evil people because of their strength and it makes me SICK!!! Did you know that they are taken, as small puppies and thrown into fighting rings with their mouths duct taped shut so they cannot fight back to "toughen them up"?? If you had that done to you, once you got that tape off - would you NOT fight like hell to survive? It is all these animals KNOW! Have you ever SEEN pictures of what some of these dogs look like after they are mauled in a fighting ring? If those same dogs were loved and taken care of as puppies, I can guarantee they would be sweet, loving animals and it is a SHAME that they never had that chance. I wish those dogs would MAUL HIM!!! VICK DOES NOT DESERVE ANOTHER CHANCE. HE KNEW WHAT HE HAD AND HE BLEW IT. Would not want him being a role model for MY children, that is for sure. Get your facts straight before you speak on the Pitbull subject because you are dead wrong!!

Playing in the NFL is a privalage. Vick could very easily go work in a grocery store and support himself just like millions of other people do. He is very capable of doing other things besides throwing a football which he wasn't very good at anyway.
