ORLANDO, Fla. (Nov. 10) -- Orlando Magic center Dwight Howard has been fined $15,000 by the NBA for publicly criticizing officials on his blog.
The league made the announcement Tuesday.
The comments were posted on Howard's blog after the Magic's loss to Detroit last week. Howard fouled out in the game after playing a little more than 16 minutes.
He wrote on his blog: "How can that be, ya'll? It was crazy. They called me for a charge on a flop, a push off when the defender was on me and two fouls on blocked shots."
Howard also wrote that he hadn't played "that little in a game since I was 10 years old in pee-wee ball." He said, "What really bothers me is they are letting guys hammer me at one end of the floor, yet I'm being called for everything."

Hey AzTmblweeed - if the GOVERNMENT fined him for criticizing the refs, that would violate his first amendment right to freedom of speech. Read it, the first amendment does not protect you from your employer.

The NBA needs desperately to get a life in the 21st Century. Twitter is no different than commenting to someone over dinner, but in an expanded way. I don't subscribe, so i wouldn't have been aware (except for the mongrel media, of course). The commisioner is brain dead and needs to grow up. Dwight is entitled to express his views, as long as he doesn't act like a neanderthal on the court. If I were Dwight, I would contribute another $15K to a mental health organization and do it in honor of the NBA, which is in serious need of an evaluation!
