ORCHARD PARK, N.Y. -Browns coach Eric Mangini has spoken with NFL officials about concerns over how rookie running back James Davis sustained a season-ending shoulder injury, and whether it happened during a post-practice session.
"We talked to the league about it. Addressed it," Mangini said, following a 6-3 win over Buffalo on Sunday. "We feel very comfortable with being where we're at."
Mangini was responding to a question about an ESPN report citing two unnamed witnesses claiming Davis was not wearing pads after practice when he was struck by an unnamed Browns linebacker, who was wearing pads.
Davis was hurt in the Browns' season opener against Minnesota and eventually placed on injured reserve on Oct. 3.
Last month, the NFL Players Association confirmed it filed a formal grievance over Mangini fining a player $1,701 for not paying a hotel for a $3 bottle of water. At the time, Mangini said:
"Grievances are common. People grieve with every single team. It's not unique at all. I guess what would be more surprising is if 90 percent of fines aren't grieved. That's not just with us. That's any team."

I heard from a bus driver at the corner of Denison and west 17th. that the browns beat the colts and won the NFL title. I was a teenager, and have witnessed this team go downhill since. I went to Three rivers once and remember the brownies getting whipped, but they were still the winningest team in pro football. I will be retired soon, and the browns will still be my favorite team but they no longer get my money.

Mangini is a major head case. Expect nothing but controversy to follow him throughout his coaching career.

Since it is unrealistic to ask fans to boycott games cause they'd lose their money, a more realistic way to take on the ownership.... is going after his one weakness..... Randy Lerner (The Cleveland Grinch who stole football from us) hates his picture taken.... post his face everywhere in your yards and attach his face to the crap he peddles in Cleveland. Mount the signs in your dawgs crap....make it known that you just can't fly in from London and take a dump in Cleveland Ohio, without being held accountable for the product you deliver..... he is responsible for 8 years of this pathetic embarrassment of signing free agents that seem to learn work ethics from the projects....Remember his father was the man that arrangement the meeting to sell our team out from underneath us fans....we've paid a high price in Cleveland the the Lerner family tree of losers. Just when we fired a rotten apple from the Belicheck dead tree, Lerner goes out and hires the twin rotten apple.... both had slimmy worms in them and are very destructive coaches..... both spend their free times at all you can eat buffets, both preached discipline but showed no self discipline, both hired bad coordinators, and both couldn't get players to show up on Sundays under the lights..... Cleveland is now the National Lampoon football joke. Lerner privately has been known to brag Cleveland fans do not care about winning, they're afraid of losing their team, so they will always fill the stadium.... their wills were crushed when my father and ART took football away from them, so they will never challenge ownership again..... sounds like Randy Lerner thinks fans in Cleveland are pathetic people, so when do we make our stand and show him you do not crap on Clevelanders.... where is our community pride and self respect?

The press not the fans pressured him to play Brady. The same press that ran Bill B. out of town. The sports writers in Cleveland are the worst, so if you have been reading the articles they wrote you have been misinformed.
D. A. gives them a better chance to win, period.

I believe you are 100% correct. I was just thinking about it today and yes, mangoon wanted DA the whole time. I was willing to give him a chance but after what he did to Brady I feel the same as you. I hope we lose big time. I hate to give my age away, LOL, not really.....but I have been into these Browns since the Kardiac Kids and I can't stand it any more.

I had to close my heart to the Indians after what they did to Victor. I think I will be forced to do the same with the Browns.

Are you in Cleveland? I am in SWFL and can only hear what the media decides is the story so I am dying to talk with someone actually there that knows what is what. Thanks. GO CAVS!!!!! LOL. rs44512@aol.com

Does it matter......its not like we are gonna win anything..... Derk Anderson/Braylon Edwards/and a few def players went into Mangini to knife Brady Quinn in the back... Mangini is done in Cleveland his word means nuttin. The offensive coordinator and Mangini felt pressure from fans to play Brady, but privately sabotaged him with offensive play calls to get their own choice in......which is eventually Brett Ratliff.... Most fans want the divider D/A to get buried by the Bengals into the home turf after he took a big shot at the fans in his press conference....we hope they hit him hard and often and send him outta cleveland forever... the guy is a punk..... and Edwards the same.... I hope he drops every pass his way... so he doesnt get a new contract with millions, then he can go sign with the lions as a bust......Bengals 38 Browns 6 as the routs continue....and DA throws pick after pick, maybe the fans will jump on the field and do some tackling themselves... LMAO.....Mangini is on the clock..... please dear god let him keep losing so he gets fired quickly...... maybe he'' be the last apple from the Belicheck tree deadwood.
