Michael made a huge error in judgement. Haven't we all on the road to adulthood? He was embarrassed and ashamed that his image to young people was damaged. He has taken his punishment like a man without whining and vowed to live up to his roll model status. He deserves the chance to atone. He has more to prove now than ever. I believe he will.

North Carolina is getting awfully close to South Carolina...home of sheriff Lott. I just hope that Phelps or his agents, trainers, etc. have made certain that there is not (and will not be) a secret "bench warrant" issued by a Court in Richland County that would be honored in North Carolina. I would not trust "Richland's Lott" anymore than I would trust "Salem's Lot".

Let's not forget that in Bejing Michael may have won 8 medels but many were just by the skin of his teeth. There are other swimmers in the world that could easily dethrone Phelps. Those swimmers are probable thinking how easily it could have been them on the gold podium. I bet they are training now and have been all along. Bad news for Michael. Not to mention when I was younger I was looking at what very well could have been a pretty sucessfull football career untill I got into smoking dope. It was all it took to cost me my edge, so much for a football career. Bottom line pot and sports don't mix. And if you think that picture of Michael was the first time he hit the bong your crazy

No one can take away the fact the Phelps is or was, or what ever, great. My biggest concern is in order to stay at the top of your game regardless of what it is, than you can't have all the distractions that Phelps has had over the past months. Keep in mind that some of the medals he won was in team compitition. Those team mates were right on Phelps tail. I bet those guies weren't distracted. They were probably training and gaining on Phelps, closing an already narrow gap. I have to wonder if all these antics may have cost Michael more than he realises.
