North Dakota defeats Stony Brook 31-24

GRAND FORKS, N.D. -Turnovers proved to be the difference as North Dakota defeated Stony Brook 31-24 Saturday afternoon.
UND (3-2) didn't have a turnover while the Seawolves (2-4) had three, all of which were costly. The most costly was an interception by Dominique Hawkins that he returned 35 yards for a touchdown seconds before halftime for a 14-7 lead.
Joel Schwenzfeier earlier had an interception that set up the Fighting Sioux at the Stony Brook 22. Four plays later Jarrel Davis ran for the game's first touchdown. The third costly turnover was a fumble that stopped a long drive at the UND 18.
UND then went 82 yards on seven plays to take a 28-14 lead with 14:28 left in the game.
Stony Brook had the statistical advantage with a 438-309 lead in total yards. But the Seawolves were plagued by other mistakes, including nine penalties for 90 yards.
