BOSTON -Paul Pierce scored 20 of his 22 points in the third quarter, and the Boston Celtics rolled to a 118-90 victory over the Chicago Bulls on Friday night in the teams' first matchup since last spring's thrilling seven-game playoff series.
Ray Allen had 20 points for Boston and Kevin Garnett, who missed the final 25 games of the regular season and the playoffs with strained ligaments in his right knee, added 16. Rajon Rondo had 16 assists and eight rebounds as the Celtics improved to 3-0.
Eddie House came off the Boston bench and was shooting freely in garbage time, finishing with 22 points.
John Salmons led the Bulls (1-1) with 16 points and 10 rebounds. Jannero Pargo had 13 points, and Tyrus Thomas and Joakim Noah 10 apiece.
Unlike their opening-round playoff series that saw the teams play a record seven overtime quarters in four games and had one game decided in the closing seconds, Boston broke this one open early in the first half.
The Celtics pushed their lead to double digits for the first time at 29-19 on Sheldon Williams' fast-break layup early in the second quarter.
The Bulls closed the deficit to nine points on Noah's basket less than minute later, but it was the last time they'd be within single digits. Allen scored nine of Boston's last 13 points in the quarter, pushing the lead to 50-35 at halftime.
Boston looked determined to put away the Bulls quickly in the second half, with Pierce nailing five 3-pointers in the third quarter to extend the lead to 88-61.
Chicago shot fairly well in the third, hitting 12 of 22 attempts, but it was no match for Boston's 15 of 20.
Notes: Allen passed Hall of Famer John Stockton for 33rd place on the NBA's career scoring list. ... Celtics F Glen "Big Baby" Davis spoke for the first time since an early morning fight with a childhood friend the day before the season opener left him sidelined for at least five weeks with a broken right thumb. Executive VP Danny Ainge said the club elected not to suspend him, but fined him an undisclosed amount. ... Noah was given a technical for swatting at the ball while a Celtics player was holding it after the whistle blew midway into the second quarter. ... The Celtics took their team photo about 2 1/2 hours prior to the game. ... Pierce played 31 minutes, Garnett 25 and Allen 24.

To boston, get Noah asap because KG is
done and Noah deep inside loves the C'S
and fits with the C's style of playing " D"
all day long.

Hi Crowbear.....!
I'm sorry.....your right; I thought I did learn something from last year;
and apparently; I just threw it all out the window; I felt like somehow;
I got possessed in a nasty way to be a jerk again....and I feel really
bad right now....! I hate myself for being that way!
I don't want you to be upset with me; and I want us to remain good
friends......!

And so does your attitude! I would think you would have learned something from last season, but here you are again, spewing ridiculous tripe and making yourself look like a fool. You & I have developed a friendship after our online rivalry last season, and friends don't let friends get away with B.S. , Chica!

You're right on the money, RoknRogue. lopjackie, aka JCutie, is a typical Laker fan who apparently hasn't found a way to get over the loss to the Celtics in the Finals last season.

lopjackie - Did I miss somewhere exactly who YOUR team is and where in the playoffs they are at this point? Usually when someone comes on a board to bash another team, they have their own team to sing the praises of. In your case it would appear from other boards, you just come on here to run your mouth - rather like JCutie From last season. You will find that this particular round of playoffs, with these two teams, is the best you or anyone is going to see throught the Championship run. It doesn't matter who won, it's been well-worth watching - Try it sometime.

Everyone's whining about the "flagrent foul" that occured in the last seconds of the game, but what about the b.s. calls on Ray Allen that caused him to foul out of the game? Someone want to answer that for me?
