Group Says Vick Won't See Former Dogs

OAKLAND, Calif. (Oct. 14) -- A Bay Area pit bull advocacy group says Michael Vick has declined an invitation to visit eight of his former dogs this weekend when the Philadelphia Eagles are in town to play the Oakland Raiders.
The group BAD RAP (Bay Area Doglovers Responsible About Pitbulls) told The Associated Press on Wednesday that it extended the invitation through the Eagles to Vick last week to view his former dogs that were part of the dog fighting operation at Bad Newz Kennels in southeastern Virginia.
BAD RAP co-founder Tim Racer said the group picked a location that would have allowed Vick to view the dogs from behind a window at a distance that satisfied the conditions of his parole that bar him from being near animals.
Racer said the Eagles informed him Wednesday that Vick would decline the offer. An e-mail sent to an Eagles spokesman was not immediately returned.
"We understand Vick is trying to right his wrongs and is very interested in redemption, but you can't find redemption without acknowledging your victims," Racer said. "Making amends to the dogs themselves would have helped to create some closure for many of us, especially those people who worked so hard to keep them from being destroyed. It seems that Vick is not ready to go there."
Oakland-based BAD RAP absorbed 10 of Vick's dogs into its foster program after being given permission from the federal government to evaluate and rescue as many of the dogs as possible.
Sunday's game against the Raiders is the first road game for Vick since being reinstated to the NFL following an 18-month prison sentence for his involvement in a dogfighting ring. A spokesman for the animal rights group, People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals, said it has no plans to protest the game.

Dog fighting is not what landed Vick in prison. There are hundreds of people arrested on rural farms and remote areas, who continue to this day to fight dogs. Vick lied under oath and perjured himself. If he had only came clean from the beginning, this story would have a different ending. Still, I hope Vick wins the Superbowl.

KmkSrh09 U think ur the only one who likes animals. U really beleive ther aren't any animal lovers in Phila that follow the Eagles? Ur opinion of Eagle fans is obviously fueled by getting ur ass kicked by them. I love animals and the Phila. Eagles. The fan base had no say as to Vick becoming and Eagle. There are many of us who dislike him on our team. We actually want him to fail. wishing him injury or death is only stooping to his level. He is a thug and Andy reids sympathy towards his sons problems more than likely influenced him in his decision to sign him. This hatred for Eagles fans is going too far. Every stadium in the NFL has its share of drunken unsportsman like idiots. U'd fit right in u sick ass. Stop generalizing all fans and try to realize that as long as Alcohol is accepted in and around the stadiums ur going to have ur share of idiots. Most people can drink and behave themselves but there is a certain % of fans that think this is a license to act out. Vick is not sorry and he has the look of a defeated man. he knows people don't like him and it shows in his body language and expressions. He will fail simply because he is not sorry for what he's done. He lacks character as many people do these days including you! We agree that being angry at what he's done is fair but u go to far attacking the fan base in Philly. These so called Eagles idiots would like to know who u are and I'd like to point u out but u hide behind your pc. Come to an Eagles game and shoot ur mouth off and I'd propbably b the one to try and save ur lame ass because I have the compassion even for fools like u!!!

a group that is sposed to be doglovers invited him to see the dogs he tortured,that makes me sick he shouldnt even be able to see the damn dogs,i hope somethin really bad happens to mike vick for what he did to those poor dogs,he is pure evil and if it was up to me people mistreating animals would get the death penalty,i hope you like it hot mike vick,cuz its gonna be hot as hell where your going, anyone who will mistreat an animal will do the same to your kids,or any kid for that matter,you mike vick are the reason this world is so messed up,we need to rid your kind off the face of the earth,the devils gonna have fun with you,you *****,oh,and to the city of brotherly idiots,the only ******** town that would take you,the eagles suck a fat one
