SAN DIEGO -The San Diego Chargers aren't off to the fast start they envisioned, especially after getting pounded by the defending Super Bowl champion Pittsburgh Steelers.
Coach Norv Turner says he expected the Chargers (2-2) to play better than they have in the first quarter of the season. They head into their bye week smarting from a 38-28 loss at Pittsburgh on Sunday night and looking to regroup physically as well as mentally.
The Chargers gave up 497 yards and fell behind 28-0 before Philip Rivers and the special teams got them back into the game.
San Diego (2-2) is two games behind the Denver Broncos, who lead the AFC West at 4-0.
After getting a week off, the Chargers will host Denver on Oct. 19.
