LOS ANGELES -Drew Gordon of UCLA won't require surgery on the partially torn patellar tendon in his right knee that he injured during tryouts for the U.S. team in the under-19 world basketball championships.
The sophomore forward had an MRI exam Thursday that showed the injury is minor, a team spokesman said. After a week of rest, Gordon will begin rehabilitation.
He was hurt Tuesday in Colorado Springs, Colo.
Last season, Gordon averaged 3.6 points and 3.4 rebounds while playing in 34 games for the Bruins. He also led the team in shooting at 56 percent.
