your reference to this ex-cop as PIG shows your sense of fair play. He resigned and showed remorse, that is punishment. However, his punishment is permanent since he can not be hired by any other police department. Compare that to all these NFL,NBA, so called professional athletes who has serve time in jail and have been given second third and forth chances to make millions. This cop is wrong, but he is punished enough.
This what happens when references lie to the police about a candidate they're looking to hire...........In reality the reference should of said this kid has no reason to be in law enforcement whatsoever!!!!!
ROBERT "PIG" POWELL absolutely got what he deserved. Most young cops are power hungry egotistical idiots. Pulling a gun on a man and his sobbing pleading wife??? Come on!! Mr. Moats stopped at the light before passing through it, this show he was not a danger to other motorists!! Now we are down to the "intent" of the law or the "letter" of the law. Why didn't PIG POWELL escort them into the hospital and convey condolences?? Isn't that part of protect and serve? Cops (Pigs) have an agenda....they want to be boss and use the law to hide behind them bossing you around. PIG POWELL didn't like his ticketing and bossing agenda disrupted to he pulled his gun!! He got caught. He is a jerk and I am so happy he lost his job, he has no reason to ever be a cop as this was not his 1st abuse of power. ie Zach Johnsons wife, harrassed for 3 hous by this idiot. Now PIG POWELL has no job and I hope he, his wife and his children suffer for all the pain they put others through. Shame on the wife for not correcting his assinine ego and behavior
For some reason , training in this matter conercerning any one in the same perdiciment; seems to be lacking in the Dallas police department! I'm sure we all jump to conclusions sometime . It's funny what the noise of a siren can do!
He would have been given a ticket. Give the race thing a break. You types bring the race card up so often it has no merit anymore. Are there cops who do wrong thing, yes. But this kid did not. The only thing he did wrong was he should have issued the citation without all the lecturing.
Let me put something out there for all of you to think about... If this family had been WHITE, what do any of you think would have happened? THINK ABOUT IT!!!!
The problem with all the comments made so far is that none of the commenters was actually present. However, given the incidents involving African-Americans and Caucasian police officers there is deep suspicion on both sides with the police having the power to deliver death. We all remember a case Johnny Cochran pursued in which a African-American man speeding to take his pregnant wife to the hospital was stopped and killed by a Caucasian policeman who was then acquitted of all wrong doing. These and similar cases make it hard to view any police officer as other than a danger who can kill any African-American man at any time and not face any punishment. The past history and the fear tend to make most African-Americans view the police as evil, racist, and killers. Still, it would be best if people kept a neutral view until a thorough investigation of the situation is done.
Legal smegal if comes down to judgement and the kid cop had none. he was on a power trip and he needs to be out of work for a while to think how he will act toward people in future.
I feel sorry for his mother in law, but, he shold have obeyed the law. He is NOT above the law. We all have / had deaths in our families and we need to handle the situation in a legal way. The officer did his job legally, perhapy not in the right way, but just the same, he did his job as was taught to him. Not all cops are bad and NOT all football players are good. Most foot ball players break the law by taking drugs.
INTENT OF THE LAW VERSUS LETTER OF THE LAW
If this family had been WHITE, what do any of you think would have happened? THINK ABOUT IT!!!!
