White" height="40" width="40" />by R.J. White
Filed under: IDP Leagues
Think IDP leagues are the way to go? Then Ballhawkin' is for you. Here, we pick out a few Individual Defensive Players that could have huge weeks and are possibly sitting in your free-agent pool.

I'm hoping you IDP leaguers read last week's column and knew to pick up Jaguars linebacker Justin Durant. Returning from injury, Durant was amazingly available in 82 percent of Fleaflicker leagues last week, which made him an easy feature for our column. Sixteen total tackles (12 solo) later, Durant has added a solid 10 percentage points to his ownership total. For the remaining seven-tenths of you, what are you waiting for?

Other notable features from last week: Andra Davis with nine total tackles and a sack, George Wilson and his 15 total tackles (jump off the train in the second half, though), Dashon Goldson with 10 total tackles (nine solo). Definitely roll with the 20%-owned Goldson and 10%-owned Davis again this week.

Permalink | Email this | Linking Blogs | Comments

What happened to the Jaguars? You'd think if a guy rushed for 170 yards on seven carries, he might be able to get more than one look in the fourth quarter. What happened to Kurt Warner, and would you be well-served picking up Matt Leinart with Arizona's cake playoff schedule looming?

On Thursday evening, we answered all your fantasy football questions -- everything from trade talk, lineup decisions, free agents calling to you for an add, or tweaking your roster for the playoffs.

Permalink | Email this | Linking Blogs | Comments

Everyone else, including Calvin Johnson, Andre Johnson, Reggie Wayne and any other injured receiver, has been ranked as if they'll play on Sunday.

Unsure whether you'll actually have your top wideout available to you for Week 9? Join us Sunday morning for our Tailgate chat, where we dole out lineup advice and keep you apprised of all the notable gameday inactives.

And if you're curious, no, Mike Sims-Walker didn't get hurt last week. The Titans finally manned up and played a little pass defense. Is this cause for concern with MSW, or just a blip on the radar? More after the jump.

Rest easy, because the rigorous fantasy games featuring backup QBs are over.

This week, only Brett Favre gets a seat on the bench in terms of QBs you'd want to use in normal-sized leagues. Next week, you just have to make it without Matt Schaub. For owners of the seven QBs in the previous paragraph, it's smooth sailing unless an injury strikes.

Who hit on their sleepers? Who made the shrewd pickups? Who's practicing what they preach? In 'House Check, you'll find out.

It sure is nice to be Tom Mantzouranis these days. The FanHouse editor and unabashed Saints fan is witnessing what is probably the best New Orleans Saints team in history. And even though he showed a lot of homerism at our fantasy draft, the picks of Drew Brees, Pierre Thomas and the Saints defense are sure working out, even if a few of them may have seemed overdrafted at the time.

Mantzouranis (owner of My Soul Belongs To Breesus) is currently the only 6-2 team in the FanHouse league, so this may be a magical season for Tom in more ways than one.

That would be the roof over Ryan Moats. The Texan running back saved the day on Sunday, taking over for a guy that's dropped more balls than Hanon from Little Giants (yeah, Steve Slaton owners, I went there). The three-touchdown day from Moats will earn him the biggest portion of waiver wire love this week.

Who are you dropping? Who else is sitting on your wire, waiting to be scooped up? We throw some intriguing matchups at the FanHouse staff and ask whether each player will be over or under a certain point total. The result? Fantasy Football Over/Under. Makes sense, right?

Now that I've explained the concept above, let's throw it out the window for one week and do something completely different. This week, we'll take a look at a couple interesting matchups and find players I think will be over their expected norm, pairing them with guys I see as being under their expected norms. Think of it as bold predictions for Sunday.

Permalink | Email this | Linking Blogs | Comments

Then Ballhawkin' is for you. Here, we pick out a few Individual Defensive Players that could have huge weeks and are possibly sitting in your free-agent pool.

Our lead linebacker in last week's column was Antonio Pierce, who in successive weeks had seven, eight and nine total tackles in three weeks heading into last week's game. He continued the pattern in Week 7, recording 10 total tackles while having a great day for anyone brave enough to start him.

Looking for more plug-and-play defenders this week? We have six more listed below.

Permalink | Email this | Linking Blogs | Comments

Fisher announced the change after Tennessee's practice Thursday.

Collins has been the Titans' starter since Week 2 of 2008, but an 0-6 start to the 2009 season, coupled with a lack of explosiveness, necessitated a move under center. Collins, in his 15th year out of Penn State, has completed just 54.8 percent of his passes this year, while throwing more interceptions (eight) than touchdowns (five) en route to a 62.0 QB rating.

But is Young the answer?

Permalink | Email this | Linking Blogs | Comments

A number of quarterback controversies and injuries are also making like difficult looking for a spot-starter, and the bottom half of this week's set of rankings are pretty ugly.

For some, this might be the right time to execute a trade to bring a quality signal-caller into the fold. There should be teams in your league with two quality QBs, and if you can trade a Palmer or Cassel along with another piece for one of those two QBs, it's going to help you now and in the long run.

While that was unfortunate (and likely very, very painful) for Leon Washington, the matchup advice turned out to be sound, as Shonn Greene stepped right in and put up a great line for absolutely no fantasy teams.

This week's slate of sleepers features many players coming out a bye week, hopefully feeling refreshed and ready to put up big points.

Some people make move after move, searching for a winning combination to turn a season around. Those people are not Will Brinson.

Will took down the previous high-scoring team this week, winning his fifth straight game after starting the season 0-2, with a ragtag bunch including workhorse back Cedric Benson and emerging No. 1 WR Sidney Rice.
