Former UFC heavyweight champion Andrei Arlovski is looking to fight by the end of the year and could be competing at Strikeforce: Evolution on Dec. 19 or in Japan with Sengoku or Dynamite!! 2009 on New Year's Eve.

FanHouse has learned that Arlovski's management has been in discussions with the aforementioned organizations and Arlovski is currently training to potentially fight on one of those cards.

Sengoku middleweight champion Jorge Santiago and top contenders in the promotion's featherweight and lightweight divisions are set for action on Saturday at Sengoku 11 at the Ryogoku Kokugikan in Tokyo, Japan.

The fighters on the other Strikeforce card this weekend, Strikeforce Challengers, weighed-in Thursday at the World Sports Cafe in Fresno, Calif. to make their fights official for Friday at the Save Mart Center.

Undefeated Billy Evangelista (9-0) will take on UFC veteran Jorge Gurgel (13-5) in a main event that could garner the winner a shot at the lightweight title. Both stepped off the scale at 159 pounds for a bout agreed upon at 160 pounds.

CHICAGO -- M-1 Global USA Vice President Jerry Millen tells me he's happy with the way promotion has been handled for Strikeforce and M-1's first partnership event, "Fedor vs. Rogers" on CBS.

And he has reason to be, as preliminary ticket numbers indicate that the event could sellout. 95% of tickets have been already been dispersed by Thursday morning for Sears Centre configured to hold 12,000, according to Strikeforce CEO Scott Coker.

The plan to reschedule the UFC heavyweight championship bout between champ Brock Lesnar and challenger Shane Carwin at UFC 108 on Jan. 2 has been nixed.

Carwin (11-0) was informed Wednesday evening by the UFC through his manager that the illness that caused Lesnar (4-1) to withdraw last week from their UFC 106 main event on Nov. 21 has persisted, rendering the champ unfit to train for a Jan. 2 fight as well.

Unbeaten heavyweight sensation Todd Duffee has suffered an undisclosed injury and has been forced to pull out of his fight against former UFC and Strikeforce title challenger Paul Buentello at UFC 107 on Dec. 12.

"[Withdrawing] was one of the hardest decisions I've had to make," the American Top Team fighter told Sherdog.com.

The Ultimate Fighter 6 contestant John Kolosci left a six-figure job exactly a year ago to pursue mixed martial arts as a full-time career, and he's hoping to make an impression Saturday in his Strikeforce debut on the undercard of the CBS-televised "Fedor vs. Rogers" event in Hoffman Estates, Ill.

He'll take on 26-year-old Shamar Bailey (12-1), a firefighter with a wrestling background who trains with UFC veterans Chris Lytle and Jake O'Brien.

Kolosci talks about mixed martial arts as a full-time job in this interview below with FanHouse and tell us experience will be his key to victory against Bailey.

The UFC has finally announced Antonio Rogerio "Minotoro" Nogueira's promotional debut at UFC 106 on Nov. 21 against Luiz Cane as well as Mike Pierce as Jon Fitch's new opponent at UFC 107 on Dec. 12.

Rogerio Nogueira (17-3), the twin brother of former UFC heavyweight champion Rodrigo Nogueira, is a top 10 light heavyweight who is entering an already stacked 205-pound division in the UFC. He'll be welcomed to the Octagon by rising contender Luiz Cane (11-1-1), who has already compiled three UFC wins.

WEC lightweight champion Jamie Varner will fight interim titleholder Ben Henderson to unify the belts at WEC 46 on Jan. 10 at the ARCO Arena in Sacramento, Calif., the WEC announced Monday. Also, former champion Urijah Faber will fight Raphael Assuncao in a featherweight bout.

"The world title bout between Varner and Henderson is a perfect way to start off the New Year," WEC general manager Reed Harris said in a press release. "The title fight, plus the return of Urijah, makes this an instant winter classic."

Fedor: Marriage, No Effect on My Focus

Marriage is a life-changing event, and tying the knot especially a month before a fight could be a considered a distraction, but Fedor Emelianenko insists that his recent marriage will have no effect on his focus coming into the fight, negative or positive.

"I don't think my marriage will affect anything in any way," Fedor told reporters Monday on a media call five days before his CBS main event fight against undefeated Brett Rogers.
