Starting 11: Les Miles Can't Lose

Les Miles is the most confident man in America. It doesn't matter what situation he faces, Miles believes he will triumph. What's more, he believes that everyone around him will win as well. Little Bighorn? Miles slays the Native Americans and rises to prominence on the Bull Moose ticket. Gettysburg? Miles takes Cemetery Ridge during Miles's Charge and the country remains divided forever (Or it would be one nation with Waffle Houses everywhere). Put Les Miles in charge of any losing proposition in the annals of history and he single-handedly swings the result the other way.

Meet the new college calculus: Les Miles + impossible eventuality = probable eventuality.

I'm going to write on this later this week, but until then, just keep our new equation in mind as we dive into the ClayNation Starting 11.

Is NCAA Guilty of Excessive Sportsmanship?

AJ GreenA.J. Green's voice was flat as he explained exactly what had happened after he momentarily turned the gravity off in Sanford Stadium to rise over LSU cornerback Chris Hawkins and catch what, in a world ruled by common sense, might've been the game winning touchdown.

"I was just trying to celebrate with my team," Green said of his reaction after putting Georgia ahead 13-12 with 1:09 left. "Then I guess they threw a flag."

Georgia's star wide receiver wasn't so much upset as he was deadpan as he apologized for an error he never made.

Fortunately for Green, there were no SEC referees lurking in the locker room. He might've been penalized for excessive sadness. Or perhaps excessive apologizing. Either would've been just as ridiculous as the celebration penalty.

Will Fewer Stars, Lower Expectations Lead to Better Team for Georgia?

Mark RichtA year ago at this time Georgia was King of the Mountain. Of course, Bulldog fans know how that power struggle ended.

Georgia fell victim to the fourth-toughest schedule in the country, it needed more than two superstars in quarterback Matthew Stafford and running back Knowshon Moreno to keep pace with rival Florida, and there were questions concerning the toughness of its defense.

While the Bulldogs -- the best team over the past 10 years in the SEC -- still won 10 games, including their bowl, the season was largely considered a disappointment. The expectations are a notch lower this year since nobody in their right mind is picking anyone but Florida to emerge from the SEC as a national championship contender.

"It's been a big difference this season," defensive tackle Jeff Owens said Thursday during SEC Football Media Days in Hoover, Ala.
