College Basketball's Top 25 Coaches

In an effort to talk about something college basketball-related other than scandals in the summer, let's talk best current coaches. We'll attempt to order the top 25 current coaches in the nation. This is about the present and the future, not the distant past. What a guy did in the mid-90s doesn't matter near as much as the direction his program is currently headed. Past pedigree also matters, to an extent. For the perfect mix of past accomplishments with present achievement and a paved road for future success, look no further than the man atop the list.

Sean Williams Arrested After Mall Incident

Sean WilliamsSean Williams was arrested today for the second time in a month. In February, he was briefly jailed after violating a "no-trespassing" order by attending a basketball game at Boston College, though charges were dropped when coach Al Skinner intervened to say he invited Williams to the game unaware of the order.

Unfortunately, it doesn't look like a former coach can bail him out of today's situation. According to the Star-Ledger, Williams was arrested on "undisclosed charges after being involved in an altercation at a cell phone store" in a shopping mall near Denver. The Nets are in town to play the Nuggets this evening.

Random YouTube Magic: Boston College's Al Skinner on Diff'rent Strokes

The opening sees us in the Drummond living room. Willis and Kimberly are chilling out when the doorbell rings. Mr. Drummond heads to the door ... opens it up ... and in walks ... Boston College head basketball coach Al Skinner.

Coach Skinner is bent (for some reason Mr. Drummond calls him "Ted") because someone had been giving Dudley (they say it is his son ... but it may be ex-BC star Jared Dudley) some wine. That, it seems, is just the least of his worries.

Okay, okay, this really isn't Al Skinner. It is actor Le Tari who played the part of Ted Ramsey, father of Dudley Ramsey ... who was Arnold Jackson's best friend on Diff'rent Strokes. This is the classic "very special" episode where Dudley was "touched" by the guy who runs the bicycle shop.

But, dude was a dead on doppelganger for Al Skinner.

Tyrese Rice's 46 Points Not Enough to Down Tar Heels

Boston College's Tyrese Rice had a whale of a first half against the #2 UNC Tar Heels. Rice dumped eight three-pointers in scoring 34 points by the break. Right then, Rice had set his career high.

In the second half, Rice was forced to create his own shots off the dribble and added another 12 points. However, he looked a bit tired and struggled to get his shot off against a taller Marcus Ginyard.

Still, Rice's 46 points is the second most points scored this season (Houston's Robert McKiver went for 52 points earlier this week), the second most points scored in BC hoops history (the record is 49 set back in 1964) and is the third most scored by a player against the Tar Heels (Duke's Dick Groat poured in 48 against the Heels in 1952).

Through all that, the Eagles had a 58-40 lead just minutes into the second half. But ...
