Anna Kournikova Involved in Las Vegas 'Catfight'

Anna Kournikova Catfight Las VegasWhat happens in Vegas stays in Vegas ... unless the New York Post's "spies" or "sources" or "whatever the hell they want to call them" are on hand. And in fact they apparently were there when "tennis ace" (HA) Anna Kournikova got into a bit of a melee with another lady patron.

Allegedly, the patron threw some drink at Kournikova and that's when the fighting started.

Seles Opens Up About Her Weight Battle

The food warden was stationed in the room by the kitchen to block her off from any late-night tip-toeing toward the fridge. On the road, a manager was sent into her hotel room to empty out the mini-bar. Room service was notified that food was not to be delivered to her room, no matter what she ordered.

Andy Roddick And That Young Hot Girl He's Engaged To Are Really Going to Get Married

It appears that one of the most eligible bachelors on the professional tennis tour (something I never thought I'd type) will be off the market come spring.

Andy Roddick and recently 21-year-old Brooklyn Decker are planning to spit out those wonderful "i dos" this spring in Texas, a place Roddick says they spend most of their time. According to Andy, the wedding will be a very small affair.
Roddick insists he's keen to keep the nuptials as intimate as possible: "It'll be very small, probably about 20 or 30 people.."
I'm a huge Roddick fan, but this thing just doesn't seem like it will last. The nearly 26-year-old Roddick has dated movie stars, fellow tennis players and has only been with Decker since 2007. Even the lovely Anna Kournikova seems a little skeptical of the decision.
"They're really young, but I hope it works out."
Whatever. The guy is a stud, and even though his tennis has fallen off the last few years, he seems to be happy with everything else and as he faces Fabrice Santoro tonight in his first round match at the U.S. Open, we can all agree there are worse things than having to marry a supermodel. I mean, he could have to marry just a regular model.

Anna Pouts in Justin's Presence

Over the past few weeks, I've been spending more than a few evenings in downtown Washington to take in a couple of matches of Washington's entry into World Team Tennis, the Washington Kastles. As I wrote a few weeks back, it's a fun experience, and now that the regular season has come to an end, I have to say I'm going to miss it.

That's why I made sure to budget some time last night to take in the last match of the regular season against the St. Louis Aces. Taking time to see the Aces meant having a chance to watch Anna Kournikova, something I didn't want to miss. Better yet, this would be the one opportunity to see Kournikova on the same court as Justin Gimelstob, the member of the Kastles who ran off the rails a couple of weeks back while attacking Kournikova while trying to drum up some publicity for the league.

So what happened? While everyone was watching, not much. But once the match was delayed by a violent Washington thunderstorm and the festivities were moved elsewhere after most of the crowd opted to go home, then the real fireworks began.

Earlier in the day at a lightly attended press conference, Kournikova twice refused to answer any questions about Gimelstob. Later, the media people who work for the Kastles assured us that Gimelstob and Kournikova wouldn't be facing off in the mixed doubles portion of the evening.

Sergei Fedorov Sued for $2M

If Sergei Fedorov was feeling good after signing his new $4M deal with the Washington Capitals, those feelings have disappeared faster than Botox in Hollywood.

It seems that Sergei has been a bad boy with his finances, and is now being sued for failing to pay back some hefty loans he took out.

From the Washington Post:
Sergei Fedorov is being sued by a Michigan bank that says the Washington Capitals center has failed to pay more than $2 million in loans taken out four years ago.

According to a lawsuit filed Monday in Macomb County (Mich.) Circuit Court, Fedorov owes Citizens State Bank more than $2.1 million on two separate loans -- one for $1.75 million and another for $500,000. The first loan was made in December 2004, the second in April 2005

What the hell did Fedorov need with all that money in the first place?

Since 1989, Sergei Fedorov has been paid $61,519,036 in salary for his services. Did he blow all of this money on crack, diamond rings for Anna Kournikova, or did his music empire bring him to the brink of bankruptcy?

Tennis Pro, Determined to Stay Relevant, Calls Kournikova a 'Bitch' and Others 'Sexpots'

Your next winner on "Loud Mouthed American Celebrity Type" .... Justin Gimelstob!! Come on down, champ. Gimelstob, a 31-year-old professional tennis player, decided to go off on some semi-profane, on-air rant this week, discussing the lustability factor of various female tennis players and then slanging mud all over Anna Kournikova's fine name.
Gimelstob ... let rip during an interview on US radio, which included describing Czech star Nicole Vaidisova as "a well developed young lady", and calling French pin-ups Tatiana Golovin and Alize Cornet "sexpots".

As well as calling Kournikova "a bitch", he claimed female players "lack the social skills, they don't go to high school, they don't go to parties".

But former world number one [Serena] Williams, who reached the last 16 of Wimbledon on Friday, said Gimelstob's comments were unnecessary ...

"Being pro-women's rights, I just think we've come farther than to be referred to like this," said Williams.

"Anna is a great girl. For anyone to say that about her is not professional. It's just totally uncalled for."
Well, clearly the comments were unnecessary. Fortunately, Serena took the high road in describing them, and inferring that the entire scenario more or less degraded the entire notion of women's rights. Which it does.

Of course, Gimelstob isn't new to the media scene or to the "outspoken" scene either; he wrote for SI.com under the tagline of "outspoken tennis pro," so I guess we knew what we were getting. Still, Justin, dude, you gotta know when you call a girl a "B" on air, things are not going to end well for you. Even with all that sexpot stuff aside.

But wait ... he wasn't done!

Hey Maxim: Where All the Athlete Women At?

Generally, I think that women who are professional athletes and who are viewed as "sexy" in the public eye get more attention than other professional athletes. Sometimes, in fact, they get more attention than other women. Which makes the utter lack of female professional athletes on Maxim's Top 100 list both a little surprising, and given who did make the cut, a little appalling, honestly.

The merits (Marissa Miller at number one) and the demerits (Britney Spears at nineteen) have already been discussed, but seriously, where are the athletes here? The only two athletes that I counted, while doing detailed research that involved clicking on lots of photos, who could remotely qualify were Danica Patrick and Stacy Keibler-- a lady of the WWE -- unless you're willing to count Diora Baird because she decided to putt in a bikini.

These two ladies checked in at 91 and 89 overall, respectively. The problem with that? Well, besides the fact that they are the only athletes even remotely involved, there's also the issue of the ranking here. Because the difference between Danica and Jennifer Love Hewitt (20) is reversed and divisible by ten in non-crazy land.

I would also ask, if we're going to roll with early 90's throwbacks, where is Anna Kournikova? Britney and Christina Aguilera can make this list but not the Russian "tennis" "star"?

Ranking the Hockey Hotties

The Wicked Wrister provides the kind of in-depth analysis we love here at The FanHouse: Ranking the Top 10 hottest hockey players' wives and girlfriends. The list includes current significant others (Willa Ford, aka Mrs. Mike Modano), recent hockey honeys (Elisha Cuthbert, thankfully not Mrs. Sean Avery) and blasts from the past (some "Kournikova" lady they keep speaking of). The list, according to the Wrister, with some updated intelligence on the relationships: What, no love for Mrs. Gretzky? Along with providing perhaps the sexiest picture of Hilary Duff mine eyes have ever seen, Wicked Wrister also provides some wickedly good supporting evidence for its selections:
Hilary Duff and Joel Madden broke up in 2006, and Duff later began dating NHL player Mike Comrie of the New York Islanders. The two have not been very public about their relationship, likely to Comrie's embarrassing numbers on the score-sheet. Hoping to keep his rock star(?) girlfriend for a bit longer, Comrie purchased a $100,000 Mercedes for Duff's 20th birthday. We all hope that Comrie can still continue playing hockey at his standard mediocre level long enough to pay for her 21st birthday gift as well.

Did Tennis Star Anna Kournikova and Enrique Iglesias Get Engaged?

At last check, we were told that singer Enrique Iglesias had no plans of marrying Anna Kournikova, nor ever having kids with her. Shortly thereafter, we told you that the couple's relationship might be over. Now there are rumors that the two might be engaged:
ENRIQUE IGLESIAS has sparked rumours he has proposed to long-term girlfriend ANNA KOURNIKOVA, after the tennis ace was spotted wearing a $6 million (£3 million) engagement ring.

The singer has previously refused to confirm the couple is engaged, but the sportswoman was photographed in London wearing a diamond on her left hand on Tuesday.
Hey, wearing an engagement ring isn't necessarily the end, but it's not good for us men out there. Sure, I'm disappointed, but there have been reports of relationships, engagements, and marriages to hockey players Pavel Bure and Sergei Federov before. I think there's a chance this might not be the end for Anna Kournikova (fingers crossed).

The Impossible Choice: Anna or Maria?

It's a question that has vexed male tennis fans for years now: If you had a choice, who would you choose, Anna Kournikova or Maria Sharapova?

And what a choice it is. Which is why I decided to ask newly minted professional tennis player, John Isner, who fought all the way to the Finals of the Legg Mason Tennis Classic before falling to Andy Roddick, who he would choose.

As you'll see, it's a question the young man struggled with. And to tell you the truth, who wouldn't?

Excellent choice. And very defensible. Especially when you take the height question into consideration.
