Gary Williams Encourages You to Boo Tony Romo During Pro-Am

At 6:30 this morning, Tony Romo, inexplicably at Tiger Woods' invitation, joined the world's best player in the AT&T National pro-am at Congressional Country Club, some 20 miles west of FedEx Field, home of the Washington Redskins.

On Tuesday, Tiger said that, "...It's just going to be a fun round," before adding, "...but also an interesting one. Granted, he's used to getting booed, and it is what it is. It comes with being, I guess team sport, away from home."

And University of Maryland basketball coach Gary Williams did his part to make sure that's exactly what happened.

All Eyes on Jason Campbell In DC

As the Redskins go through mini-camps this spring, the most important development will be how things progress with their starting quarterback, Jason Campbell. It's no secret the Redskins pursued other options during the offseason, only to come up short and end up "stuck" with the 27-year-old Auburn product.

After three seasons, and finally one full one, under his belt, it's time for Campbell to take the next step and become a franchise quarterback. Finally getting a second season in the same offensive system -- 2009 will be the first time -- is a great start for the 6-foot-5 signal-caller. He's also getting more comfortable in his leadership role.

What Is Pat White's Future In the NFL?

One of the most intriguing prospects in this weekend's NFL draft is West Virginia quarterback Pat White. A sensational athlete, White dominated the Big East during his college career and enters this weekend as a man without a position. Can he overcome his lack of size and succeed as a quarterback in the NFL? Will he became the latest quarterback-to-wide receiver project and follow in the footsteps of players like Antwaan Randle-El? Or will he bring back the "Slash" position, combined with the recent fad that is the wildcat offense, and become a unique weapon that gives opposing defensive coordinators fits?

Mike Mayock: Pat White Is Special

Scouts first took notice of West Virginia's Pat White -- all 6-0, 195 pounds of him -- at the Senior Bowl. As is often the case, undersized, athletic college quarterbacks are considered anything but as they prepare for the NFL Draft, usually because of some shortcoming that coaches fear will be exploited at the next level.

For White, personnel types had issues with his lack of height and arm strength. He assuaged those concerns in Mobile, Ala., out-playing everybody else on the field. And while his future won't be strictly as an NFL quarterback, he's good enough to play the position, in addition to a few others. Which is why NFL Network's Mike Mayock made his case for White on a Wednesday conference call.

Raiders Might Want to Think About Vick

Despite what MIchael Vick told a judge in bankruptcy court last week, there's no way he plays another "10 to 12 years" in the NFL. In fact, there's a chance he never plays again if commissioner Roger Goodell chooses not to reinstate him.

That decision won't come till summer, but if Vick, who is nearing the end of a 23-month prison sentence in connection with dog-fighting, is allowed to return to the league, he'll almost certainly have suitors. And the Oakland Tribune's Jerry McDonald thinks that, under the right circumstances, he could be a good fit for the Raiders.

Michael Vick Could Be in More Trouble, Still Eyes NFL Return

Good news: Michael Vick, convicted puppy murderer, is paying restitution for his crimes. Bad news: according to a Department of Labor complaint filed in federal court, he's doing so using roughly $1.3 million in pension plan funds.

Pats, Broncos Work Out Pat White

Every January, in the week between the conference championship and the Super Bowl, scouts from the 32 NFL teams make their way to Mobile, Ala. for the Senior Bowl. Leading up to this year's event, West Virginia's Pat White, the prototypical college option quarterback, was the perfect candidate to make the switch to a wideout/running back/returner hybrid in the NFL.

Save that every time the topic was broached, White insisted that he could play quarterback at the next level.

Washington Redskins: Fix the Sack Ratio

Because the NFL season never ends, we present our 2009 Offseason Roadmaps for front offices to navigate through the summer.

The Redskins stormed out of the gate in Jim Zorn's first season as head coach, running their record to 6-2 at the halfway point. The second half of the season, unfortunately, was perfectly symmetrical -- they went 2-6 to finish 8-8.

They could have won three of those games in best-case scenarios, but the best teams come through instead of talking about what could have been. The reality is that the Redskins only played a half-season in '08.

Randle El, Carter Restructure Contracts

The Washington Redskins are a team that needs improvement in several areas to win in the beast that is its division. Being more than $5 million over the salary cap most certainly wouldn't leave them much flexibility this offseason, so some cuts or contract restructuring is necessary.

Defensive end Andre Carter and wide receiver Antwaan Randle El have done their part, agreeing to contract extensions which are essentially pay cuts. Each player had a deal set to expire after 2012, but each will now run through 2015.

Whisenhunt Breaks Out Steelers' Playbook on Cardinals' Flea-Flicker TD

The Eagles defense probably felt very comfortable with what Kurt Warner and the Cardinals might try to do in the NFC Championship game, particularly since they whupped them on Thanksgiving, 48-20.

What Philadelphia probably didn't expect, however, was that Ken Whisenhunt would dig deep into the Steelers' playbook. But that's exactly what happened on Arizona's first possession of the second quarter. Warner took the snap, handed off to J.J. Arrington. Arrington ran right, then turned and threw a backward pass to Warner, who promptly heaved a bomb to Larry Fitzgerald. Sixty-two yards later, Fitzgerald was in the end zone and the Cardinals were up 14-3.
