82-Year-Old Woman Gets Probation After Pleading Guilty in Bart Starr Extortion Case

Ruby Young, an 82-year-old Grandmother who attempted to extort Packers Hall of Fame quarterback Bart Starr for $2 million, has pled guilty in a San Antonio court and will face an undisclosed amount of probation. Additionally, the federal judge in the case has demanded that Young have no further contact with Starr, his family or the media regarding the situation.

As part of her guilty plea, which was actually placed on May 25th, Young admitted to sending threatening letters to Starr indicating that she would reveal an affair they [allegedly] had during the Eisenhower administration. As part of her extortion attempt, Young claimed she would remain silent if Starr paid her $2 million.

One of the letters read:

"And now, the time has come for you to pay - to pay for the many injuries you caused me ... No I am not a push-over Mr. Starr - and no, I do not need the money - but I intend to see that you pay for your wrong doings (sic) to me... ," said the first letter, dated Oct. 30, 2006. "How much is it worth to preserve this 'image' presented to the public these many years of who and what you are?"
The 73-year-old Starr has denied ever meeting Young.
