If Bobby Crosby had his choice in life, he wouldn't be playing baseball. Oh no, he'd be playing Plinko on the Price Is Right.
Crosby grew up a huge fan of the show, and would even fake being sick so he could stay home from school just to watch it. If you're like Bobby, and were watching the show on Thursday morning you may have noticed the Athletics shortstop sitting front and center.
You see, Bobby's brother Blake scored some tickets to the show during the off-season, but Bobby's dreams of being a contestant went unfulfilled. A week later, fate intervened.
Crosby was at a charity event that host Bob Barker also attended, and Barker bought a bat that Crosby had signed, paying $700 during the charity auction.
"Coolest thing ever,'' Crosby said, beaming. "I thought, 'I could die right now.' ''
He ended up talking to Barker for a while, and Barker suggested that Crosby come watch the show as his guest. Crosby, his fiancée and some friends attended, and afterward, Crosby said, he even got to spin the wheel and take some photos with Barker on the set.
First of all, I'm as amazed as all of you are that Crosby was able to spin the wheel without injuring himself. For a player as injury prone as he is, it's a damn miracle, but that brings me to my point. Is Crosby faking his injuries? He's already admitted he did the same things while as a child, so is it not possible Crosby is faking these injuries now so he can stay home and watch the Price Is Right?
This is something Billy Beane may want to look into. He also may want to tell Bobby about the miracle of Tivo.
