Bouncin' Around: Wade Will Think Twice About Staying With Beasley

Dwyane Wade and Michael BeasleyBouncin' Around is NBA FanHouse's weekly insider notebook.

This is not good for forward Michael Beasley. And it's REALLY not good if you're the Miami Heat trying to convince Dwyane Wade that they are serious about building a championship team around him.

No, this is real bad.

Beasley, who checked himself into a rehab clinic last week because of depression and substance-abuse issues, suddenly looks like the elephant in the franchise room as Wade ponders where his future will be.

Bouncin' Around: How Much Scouting Do You Really Need?

Bouncin' Around is NBA FanHouse's weekly insider notebook.

A little while back, the Memphis Grizzlies took a lot of heat when word got out that five of their scouts had either left or been let go.

At the time, general manager Chris Wallace downplayed the departures, calling it nothing more than a "restructuring," and adding that he prefers working with "a smaller group."

The Grizzlies, of course, were one of the worst teams in the league last season, which made it very easy to ridicule the move. But the fact of the matter is that the Grizzlies don't appear to be the only team trimming their scouting staffs.

Bouncin' Around: With This Schedule, Magic Won't Need Lewis To Start

Rashard LewisBouncin' Around is NBA FanHouse's weekly insider notebook.

There is a good reason the Orlando Magic don't seem too concerned over losing Rashard Lewis for the first 10 games of the regular season because of his suspension for violating the NBA's Anti-Drug Agreement.

They won't need him.

Of those 10 games, only two will be against teams with a record last season that was better than .500. Yes, it would have been great to have your best shooter in the lineup for that one ESPN game against the Cleveland Cavaliers, but they could beat New Jersey and Oklahoma City with Dwight Howard and four Summer League players.

Bouncin' Around: Grgurich's Camp Going on Quietly in Las Vegas

Tim GrgurichBouncin' Around is NBA FanHouse's weekly insider notebook.

NBA assistant coach Tim Grgurich is holding his annual summer camp in Las Vegas this week. And believe it, what happens at that camp is going to stay at that camp.

It's Grgurich's way.

About 60 NBA players -- from soon-to-be rookies to veterans -- are taking part in the camp, which is held in a high school gym. The camp also has become a showcase for rising assistant coaches, who just like players, are hoping to catch the eye of a GM or front office type. And there are plenty of them there.
