Monday Pin Placement: Is Ogilvy New King of Match Play?

Every Monday during the PGA Tour season, Monday Pin Placement will run as a wrap-up of the weekend's action. Basically, we'll focus on what you may have missed while you were out grinding on the putting green.

Ogilvy Takes Accenture Handily -- Well, that looked easy.

Geoff Ogilvy dominated the 36-hole final on Sunday against Paul Casey, winning the match 4-and-3, and taking his second Accenture Match Play title in four years. Also in the last four years, Ogilvy has made it to the finals three times, which might just make him the new king of match play over a gentleman named Tiger Woods.

Live Blog: Tiger Woods' Second Match

Back by popular demand, it's day two of the Tiger Woods Live Blog!

Woods took down Brendan Jones on Wednesday in his first professional golf tournament in eight months and is now up against Tim Clark. The action here at FanHouse begins promptly at 2 PM ET, so make sure to pack your lunch with protein so you can hang the entire time. It's Tiger, it's Thursday and we're chatting it up. Join in after the jump.

Tiger Marches On as If He Never Left

Tiger WoodsMARANA, Ariz. -- Surrounded by a hillly amphitheater of boulders, cacti, sunshine, giddy fans and a hovering blimp that recorded his every swing, step and nose-hair twitch, Tiger Woods took a seat on the 15th tee. To you and I, this meant absolutely nothing. Our questions had been answered on the first two holes, when he went birdie-eagle and stirred unrestrained shrieks in the mountain canyons somewhere between Tucson and Phoenix.

But to Woods, this was the first litmus test Wednesday in his personal Battle of Wounded Knee. There was a pileup of players waiting to tee off, much like the daily traffic messes on Interstate 10, and he was forced to wait, take some practice swings, chit-chat with woefully overmatched foe Brendan Jones and hope that his surgically repaired left knee didn't tighten. At one point, Woods wore a slight look of dread as he sat on a bench, a rare occasion when he was helpless on a golf course. Finally, after almost 20 minutes, he ambled to the tee box, accepted a 3-wood from caddie Steve Williams and, without fear, swung ferociously in trying to reach the green from 343 yards.

Tiger Woods' Next Opponent: Tim Clark

Tiger Woods rejoined the world Wednesday, not as a political speaker or a new dad, but once again as "just" a golfer. Woods dusted Australian Brendan Jones 3 and 2 at the Accenture Match Play with two eagles, a number of effective, pain-free shots and just an incredible start all-around. Now, Tiger will be up against another non-U.S. golfer, South African Tim Clark. Here is what you need to know about the match.

Tiger Cruises to Victory in 1st Round

It's almost like he never left. After an eight-month layoff, Tiger Woods showed up in Marana, AZ for the Accenture Match Play Championship and picked up just about where he left off back in June of last year. Except this time, he has two good knees and a much tighter golf swing. And after he knocks off the cobwebs, that's bad news for the rest of the tour. But we already knew that.

Live Blog: Tiger Woods' Return

Tiger Woods is back. What more is there to say? Woods will be facing a lesser-known Australian named Brendan Jones in the first round of the Accenture Match Play on Wednesday.

We will be live blogging the entire round, starting at 2 PM ET. If you have a minute at work, or want to know about everything that's going on at the Accenture (with a focus on Tiger, naturally), swing by and say hello. The action starts after the jump.

Best Theater in Sports Back With Tiger

MARANA, Ariz. -- Nervous? The Federal Reserve Chairman should be nervous. One hundred and three men on baseball's dirty list should be nervous. Anyone working for an American newspaper should be nervous. Anyone associated with Bernie Madoff should be nervous. Madonna's new 22-year-old boyfriend should be nervous -- very, very nervous -- and immediately run for the hills.

Tiger Woods Talks Before Return

For the first time since 1996, Tiger Woods said "Hello world," only this time it was in the form of a news conference. Tiger had been away from the PGA Tour for so long he showed up late to the press conference, admitting he forgot how long it takes to play 18 holes.

In this ESPN video after the jump, he hit some of the important questions, including one about how he's feeling, why he picked the Accenture Match Play and that awesome U.S. Open victory from a year ago.

Meet Tiger's First Test, Brendan Jones

Trust me, if you've never heard of Brendan Jones until this week, you're far from alone. He is the poor soul that will be going up against Tiger Woods in the first round of the Accenture Match Play. Jones obviously has his work cut out for him.

Jones is a ripe 33 years old and has played on the PGA Tour before, but for only one season. In 2005, Jones was a full-time member with the big boys, making only 14 or 28 cuts, with a single top-10 finish at the B.C. Open, a tournament Tiger Woods wouldn't sniff if it was the last competition on Earth.

What else should you know about the Australian?
