The Brent Schaeffer era in Oxford, MS was short and not-so-sweet. Schaeffer's first season at Ole Miss was rough and tumble, and his first full off-season didn't go so well either. Walk-on QB Seth Adams has beaten Schaeffer for the starting job, and Mississippi OC Dan Werner confirmed on Wednesday that Schaeffer is now a wide receiver for the Rebs. From SportingNews.com:
Former Mississippi starting quarterback Brent Schaeffer has been moved to wide receiver, offensive coordinator Dan Werner said Wednesday.Ed Orgeron is no doubt kicking himself soundly for naming Schaeffer a starter before he even set foot on campus last season.
The move clears the way for Seth Adams to take over as the Rebels' starting quarterback. Adams, Schaeffer and Michael Herrick have been competing for the job since the start of preseason practice last week.
Werner said in an article at www.djournal.com that Schaeffer's move was voluntary.
Good luck to both Schaeffer and Adams in their new roles with the Rebels.
