Mayhem Miller: I Entertain the Masses

Jason Mayhem Miller became a professional mixed martial artist in 2001, and he's long been known to MMA fans as an entertainer, from the way he dances into the ring to his style of fighting to his post-fight interviews.

But it was only when he became the host of MTV's reality show Bully Beatdown that Miller started to reach an audience beyond the hard-core MMA community. For Miller, however, moving from fighting to TV was an easy, natural progression, because he says he views both jobs as simply an opportunity to entertain.

In an interview with FanHouse, Miller talked about his TV show, his past and future MMA fights, and why he doesn't care if he ever returns to the UFC.

MMA Twitter Mailbag: Bully Beatdown

MMA Twitter universe had plenty to say about the MTV reality show Bully Beatdown after I posted a clip from the first episode of the show's second season. The show, hosted by MMA fighter Jason Mayhem Miller, has some fans who think it's all in good fun, and some detractors who say it reflects badly on mixed martial arts.

To read the pro and the con, read the rest of our MMA Twitter mailbag below.

Eddie Alvarez Gives a Bully a Beatdown

Bully Beatdown, the MTV show in which Jason "Mayhem" Miller forces bullies into the cage with MMA fighters while the bullies' victims sit by and watch, returns for its second season Thursday night. In the video below, Eddie Alvarez puts a bully in his place.

Jake Shields Hopes Win Over Lawler Sets Him Up for Title Shot With Cung Le

After eight months away from the cage while in legal limbo, former EliteXC welterweight champ Jake Shields returns in one of the biggest tests of his career, moving up to a 182-pound catch weight to fight former EliteXC middleweight champion Robbie Lawler.

The matchup takes place Saturday night at the Scottrade Center in St. Louis, Missouri, about a 15-minute drive from Lawler's current hometown in Granite City, Illinois. The event airs on Showtime at 10 pm ET.

Shields was nice enough to take some time out of his fight week schedule and talk to FanHouse about moving up in weight classes, why he'd fight either Joe Riggs or Kimbo Slice, how close he came to joining the UFC and more.

Mayhem Miller Ready to Bring the Beatdown to Jacare

Jason "Mayhem" Miller might well be the most famous mixed martial artist not fighting in the UFC. As the host of MTV's Bully Beatdown, Mayhem won himself a whole new legion of mainstream fans and solved a few problems along the way.

On May 26 in Kanagawa, Japan, he goes back to his regular job: fighting. At DREAM 9, Miller (22-6) will take on Ronaldo "Jacare" Souza (10-2) in a rematch of their June 2008 fight, which Jacare won by unanimous decision. But this time, it's for the middleweight title.

In an exclusive interview with FanHouse, Mayhem talks about hiding from unwanted attention, why he still thinks Jacare is overrated and if we'll ever see him back fighting for a major U.S. promotion.
