Back around Christmas, I stumbled upon the knowledge that former Saints linebacker and Hall of Fame aspiree Rickey Jackson was on Louisiana's list of Most Deliquent Child Support offenders. Apparently he's been training hard and working on his game (that game being, coincidentally, not paying your child support), because Jackson is now officially THE Most Delinquent Child Support offender in the state.Jackson owes the state the most of any absentees, racking up $153,781.33 in missing payments.
It's been widely assumed that the only reason Jackson has been left out of the Hall is his failure to win a Super Bowl with New Orleans, where he spent a considerable amount of his career (he did play in a reduced role on the 49ers team that won Super Bowl XXIX).
But it's possible that this albatross is restricting him, as well. The Canton voters are known to tip balloting in the favor of "nice" guys or players with clean reputations. Jackson continues to be revered in New Orleans for his play on the field, but everybody should be made better aware that this is not the action of someone to admire.
