'TUF 8' Winner Ryan Bader Aims to Dictate Fight vs. Eric Schafer

The Ultimate Fighter 8 winner Ryan Bader says his keys to beating Eric "Red" Schafer at UFC 104 is to dictate the fight and avoid Schafer's experienced Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu game.

Bader, one of the many wrestler-turned-MMA fighters out of the Arizona Combat Sports camp in Tempe, recently spoke with FanHouse as he looks to improve his undefeated MMA and UFC records to 11-0 and 3-0, respectively, on Nov. 24 at the Staples Center in Los Angeles, Calif.

UFC Fight Night 19: Carlos Condit Beats Jake Ellenberger

Carlos Condit earned his first victory inside the Octagon Wednesday night at UFC Fight Night 19, surviving an early barrage from Jake Ellenberger and coming back to win a split decision on Spike TV.

Ellenberger dominated the action in the early going, landing punches that snapped Condit's head back and appearing close to having Condit finished early on. Referee Leon Roberts wisely allowed the fight to continue even though Condit appeared to be badly hurt, and Condit managed to get back up and even do some damage later in the round. Still, it was a dominant first round for Ellenberger.

Martin Kampmann Unfazed By Recent UFC 103 Opponent Switch

Prior to UFC 72, Martin Kampmann was on the verge of fighting Rich Franklin for a future shot at middleweight champion Anderson Silva. However, a knee injury forced him to withdraw from the bout. Since then, the 27-year-old worked his way up the welterweight division. He was supposed to fight Mike Swick at UFC 103 for a shot at current 170-pound champion Georges St-Pierre, but Swick pulled out late last week after suffering a concussion in training.

Kampmann (15-2) will now face UFC newcomer Paul Daley (21-8-2) on Sept. 19, but as he recently told FanHouse, no title shot will be on the line. Still, the Danish-born fighter, who most recently defeated Carlos Condit at UFC Fight Night 18 in April, is just excited to return to action. Check out the full interview below.

Final WEC welterweight champion Carlos Condit will look to bounce back from his UFC debut loss when he squares off against Chris Lytle at UFC Fight Night 19 on Sept. 16 in Oklahoma City, Ariel Helwani of FanHouse has learned.

MMA Top 10 Welterweights: Martin Kampmann In, Carlos Condit Out

Martin Kampmann defeated Carlos Condit Wednesday night at UFC Fight Night 18, and that means it's time to revise our rankings of the Top 10 welterweights in mixed martial arts.

It's not a big adjustment: Georges St Pierre, of course, remains in the top spot, and the rankings will look almost identical to the last time I did them. But I had Condit at No. 8 and Kampmann outside the Top 10 before, so I figure I need to add Kampmann in and take Condit out. The new rankings are below.

Martin Kampmann Beats Carlos Condit By Split Decision at UFC Fight Night

In a battle of young welterweights that lived up to expectations, Martin Kampmann beat Carlos Condit by split decision Wednesday at UFC Fight Night 18 in Nashville.

The first round was a good ground battle in which Condit, the former World Extreme Cagefighting welterweight champion, opened an ugly cut under Kampmann's left eye by landing a hard punch followed by a knee just as Kampmann got up off the canvas.

Carlos Condit: Time to Fight the Best in the World in the UFC

Carlos Condit went from the champion to just one of the contenders, and he couldn't be happier about it.

As the World Extreme Cagefighting welterweight champion, Condit was the big fish in a small pond of welterweights. But Condit wanted a challenge, so when he was asked to set his WEC belt aside and fight the best welterweights in the world in the UFC, he jumped at the opportunity.

I interviewed Condit about his UFC debut against Martin Kampmann (on April 1 on Spike), as well as his personal relationship with New Mexico Governor Bill Richardson, his visit to Afghanistan and his admiration for UFC welterweight champion Georges St Pierre. The full interview is below.
