UFC Newcomer Jay Silva Still Doesn't Believe His Dream Has Come True

Two years ago, Jay Silva was just a nightclub bouncer who liked watching MMA on television. Then a chance encounter with Quinton "Rampage" Jackson at UFC 78, led to him moving to California to begin his MMA career. Next week, he'll make his Octagon debut when he steps in on short notice to face CB Dollaway at UFC Fight Night 19 in Oklahoma City. Dollaway's original opponent, Dan Miller, was forced to withdraw from the bout after suffering an undisclosed infection.

FanHouse spoke to Silva, who is 5-1 in his career, about his unique road to the UFC and how he plans on preparing for Dollaway. The full interview is below.

Aaron Simpson Talks UFC 102 Win, Randy Couture Comparisions

As an assistant coach for nine years at Arizona State University, UFC middleweight Aaron Simpson watched as wrestlers Cain Velasquez, CB Dollaway and Ryan Bader all successfully translated their collegiate wrestling backgrounds into a career in MMA.

Training with Arizona Combat Sports, Simpson (6-0) finally gave MMA a shot in 2007 and in exactly 13 months, debuted for the WEC and won by knockout in 18 seconds. This past Saturday, the two-time All American wrestler extended his streak of TKO wins to six by knocking off Ed Herman at UFC 102.

Seth Petruzelli Discusses Kimbo Slice Rematch, Art of Fighting and Being a Dog

In his first fight since dispelling the EliteXC myth of Kimbo Slice, Seth Petruzelli returns Saturday against IFL veteran Chris Baten at Art of Fighting 4 in Tampa, Fla.

Last October, Petruzelli (10-4) became an unlikely hot topic when he accepted a main event fight against Slice on a few hours notice and proceeded to stop the EliteXC main draw in 14 seconds. Although the event on CBS turned out to be the third most watched MMA card ever, Slice's loss in credibility and Petruzelli's controversial comments following the fight heavily contributed to the company's closure within the end of the month.

Finally Healthy, Amir Sadollah Looks to Re-Start Career at UFC 101

Amir SadollahPHILADELPHIA – It's been over a year since Amir Sadollah beat CB Dollaway to capture The Ultimate Fighter's season seven championship and earn a UFC contract. But since then the world's most popular 1-0 fighter has been snakebit, suffering back-to-back setbacks during two separate training camps that forced him to pull out of scheduled bouts.

Finally healthy after a staph infection and a broken clavicle, Sadollah returns to the octagon on one of the featured bouts of UFC 101, taking on former two-time NCAA wrestling champion Johny Hendricks. Not surprisingly, the 28-year-old is feeling like a kid on Christmas Eve, anxious to finally reach a highly anticipated day.

"I'm trying to control the excitement as best I can and stay focused," he told FanHouse. "I've got to try to save the excitement for when the cage door shuts and I'm ready to fight."
