As Eric Milton eyes his return to the Dodgers' starting rotation, general manager Ned Colletti has been out watching some of their minor-league affiliates recently. It's no secret the Dodgers would like to upgrade starting pitching before the trade deadline, and reportedly Colletti is checking out which minor leaguers in the Dodgers' system can be used in a trade to acquire left-hander Jarrod Washburn from Seattle.

The Mariners are still hanging around in the AL West, though, so it's not exactly a sure thing they'd be willing to part with Washburn. He does make quite the hefty salary, but his contract is up at the conclusion of this season, so moving him wouldn't really save the Mariners much money.

ARLINGTON, Texas -- At the start of this three-game series, there was a thought this would have been a good test for the up and coming Rangers, who lead the AL West.

It turned out to be a nice test -- and confirmation -- for the Dodgers, who own the best record in the game.

After three humid days and nights at Rangers Ballpark in Arlington, Los Angeles took two of three games here and will head back to Southern California happy.

There are some pretty good two-start pitchers going in week seven of the fantasy baseball season. Chad Billingsley and Dan Haren lead the list of "Must Start" pitchers, while I'm not sure which option would be riskier between Dontrelle Willis and Tim Redding this week.

There are 47 two-start pitchers in all and you'll need to lock your lineup by 1:07 PM ET on Monday as that's first pitch between the White Sox and Blue Jays.

SAN FRANCISCO -- If you doubted the Dodgers because they didn't have any top-of-the-rotation starters to replace Brad Penny and Derek Lowe, Randy Winn has a little newsflash for you.

Chad Billingsley is an ace-in-waiting, and he may not be waiting much longer.

Billingsley, the only 4-0 pitcher in the National League, will look to go 5-0 against Winn and the Giants on Tuesday night at AT&T Park.

"He's had the stuff to be a No. 1 starter," Winn said. "It's just the teams he's played for they had some more experienced guys, like Penny and Lowe. Now those guys aren't there, so people are looking at him in a different light, but people who had to face him the last few years know he's been really good."

Forty-four pitchers are throwing twice this week (Monday, April 27th - Sunday, May 3rd). All the games are night games on Monday, so no need to rush. Get your lineups set by 7:00 PM ET for the St. Louis at Atlanta game.

Both are phenomenal, but most of you, at first glance, would take Pitcher No. 1, right? Maybe not.

Most starting pitchers who have been healthy thus far have made between two and three starts. It's still a small sample size, but we're starting to see some dominating trends from faces both familiar and not-so-well known.

After scouring the statistics I came up with a list of starting pitchers who have pitched at least 19 innings, have an Earned Run Average below 3.00, and have a WHIP below 1.00. Anyone care to take a guess at home many are on this list?

James Loney drove in the winning run, or more accurately walked it in. The pricey free agents -- Orlando Hudson and Manny Ramirez -- were the heroes sparking the game-winning rally in the ninth inning with consecutive no-out hits. But it was Clayton Kershaw who sent the loudest message Wednesday night.

The Dodgers pulled out a 5-4 win over the hated Giants, securing the series victory ahead of Thursday night's finale in dramatic fashion by scoring in the bottom of the eighth and ninth after Hong-Chih Kuo and Ronald Belisario coughed up the lead on Aaron Rowand's three-run homer.

Those dramatics made for interesting theater, but as is so often the case with early-season games, it obscured the real story: a dazzling performance by Kershaw.
