The entire college basketball world is wondering if Clemson is legit. We all know that to truly understand that, you must wait until January before making that decision. Clemson woke up Sunday morning with a 12-1 record. Last year, they began the season 17-0. In 2005-2006, they won their first 11 games.
In that 2006 season, it was a tough loss at Georgia that gave them their first defeat. They followed that up with a really bad loss ... at home ... to Elon. Yes, Elon. That sent the Tigers down a spiral that saw them lost 13 of their last 21 games of the season.
Last year, their first loss was a tough one at Maryland. They followed that one up with a complete dud of an effort at home against North Carolina. Clemson went on to lose 9 of their next 11 games after the undefeated start.
This year's team got their first loss a few weeks ago, but showed a lot of promise in their 90-88 overtime loss to the Tar Heels this past Sunday. If they could've made a few free throws, they would have taken Carolina down. What I wanted to see if the newest version of Clemson basketball could pick themselves up off the mat and beat down their next foe.
Nope.
