Fight of the Week: Blood Sport

Every Friday, FanHouse sifts through the rubble and picks the best NHL fight, with the help of HockeyFights.com.

Sometimes, we scour the internet looking for the best fight, only to be left underwhelmed. There are other weeks where this job couldn't possibly be any easier. The good fights jump at you, and the players involved are the guys you would expect to see in the big fights. This week's winning fight has some blood in it, so use caution as you proceed.

Fight of the Week: Colton Orr Takes Over

Every Friday, FanHouse sifts through the rubble and picks the best NHL fight, with the help of HockeyFights.com.

Some weeks, this job is just too easy. Our search for the best hockey fights includes a couple dandies this week, including a classic heavyweight battle in Toronto. It's the kind of bout that makes Brian Burke smile. Check out our runners-up, along with video of this week's best fight, after the jump.

Offseason Roadmap: Northeast Division

It's officially the offseason, meaning the time is right to look into the future. We begin our division-by-division preview of the potential wheeling and dealing with the Northeast Division.

Brian Burke begins his rebuild of the Toronto Maple Leafs, Dany Heatley wants out of Ottawa and just what is Boston going to do with Phil Kessel and a limited amount of salary cap space?

Day 5 is No Restful Sunday

The first 10 days of the Stanley Cup Playoffs border on information overload. With 3 or 4 games of significance each day, eventually choices have to be made or burnout ensues. Jes has the roundup on the Wings and Flames, which I didn't see. The Pens squandered an early lead, while the Sens got their lines rolling. Minnesota looks no different than previous incarnations, while the Ducks are on cruise control (doing 90!). While fatigue and exhaustion made me miss the best part of the Dallas/Vancouver game, by all accounts. And, they didn't keep the Vs. guys up 'til 4 am.

They're finally getting into the spirit of things in the East as the first cheap shot was thrown on Rob Scuderi, while they're getting serious out West, as there was just one penalty during the Final 30 minutes in Dallas last night.

Points of Interest:
  • If Pittsburgh loses this series look no further than Michel Therrien's refusal to hold his young stars accountable. Evgeni Malkin was horrible yesterday and yet he kept getting shift after shift.
  • If Ottawa loses this series look no further than their net. The Penguins first goal was some horrible netminding. Their ahead in this series because of the 5 guys in front of him.
  • Minnesota is finished because their best players won't work hard enough to win the battles on the boards. It's Anaheim's game-plan to out-muscle the Wild and it's working perfectly.
  • Christoph Schubert's hit on Rob Scuderi was a text-book five minute major.
  • Chris Neil should take notes on how to hit without contrversy from Colby Armstrong.
  • Marty Turco gives up 1 goal in 10 periods and then leaves a bad rebound for Jan Bulis, who ties the game. I'm not sure whether to laugh at or cry for him.
