Biggest NFL Busts by Team: Who's Your Team's Worst Draft Pick Ever?

Everyone makes mistakes. But when those mistakes are magnified by intense scrutiny of the NFL draft, well, they become much more embarrassing than, say, my typical Friday morning, mustard-stain-on-khakis incident.

Which is why the NFL FanHouse braintrust got together to determine who is the biggest bust for each NFL team. They're not listed in terms of stupidity -- they're all stupid relative to a team's total draft performance. Meaning, of course, some teams "bust" is much different than another organization's; we did it this way to avoid just linking you to DetroitLions.com.

Instead, we're putting it in current draft order, sans trades, and allowing this list to serve as a reminder of each's team's ability to properly execute a fail. The "bust factor" was based primarily on three things: statistical production (or lack thereof), position in the draft and other available options during that year's draft.

Mini-Zebra Report: Dwight Freeney Not Happy About Officiating In Colts' Loss

I should have known I couldn't stay away for long before having to weigh in on another batch of controversial calls. The power of the Zebra Report lives on. Dwight Freeney discussed things with Michael Silver of Yahoo! -- or, not really discussed, more like vented -- as the two walked towards the Colts' team bus following the game.
"Those were the worst [expletive] calls I've seen in a long time," he said. "To have a game of that magnitude taken out of your hands, it's just disgusting. It's not like they made one [expletive] bad call – it's three calls, in overtime. On one the ball's 50 feet over [Chambers'] head. And they have the nerve to call defensive holding? When they can't even call one friggin' offensive holding the whole game? What's going on? They need to start investigating some other [expletive]."
I would make a tell me how you really feel, Dwight comment here, but he has every right to be upset considering the Colts went 12-4 and lost in the first round of the playoffs. I'd be a bit incensed, too.

Chargers 23, Colts 17: Darren Sproles Reminds Us That Size Doesn't Matter

Stay on top of all the postseason action with FanHouse's NFL playoff coverage.

There's going to be puh-lenty of analysis about Saturday night's game between the Colts and Chargers. Most of it will center around two things: Darren Sproles and the eliminated league MVP, Peyton Manning. Sproles, of course, was beyond magnificent, piling up an absolutely insane 328 total yards (receiving + rushing + returning) as LaDanian Tomlinson was forced to the sidelines after the first quarter with a torn groin muscle (no one, by the by, should begrudge him this).

Philip Rivers was not all that spectacular, but neither was Manning; in fact, it was a game that really focused on some impressive defense and some odd choices re: coaches' challenges. Tony Dungy really had no business trying to get Reggie Wayne's catch back and, as a result, he couldn't try and flip Chris Chambers' probably-not-a-grab a few plays later.

Additionally, there was a whole bunch of bizarre business regarding a phantom "restored timeout" with 16 seconds left in regulation after Nate Kaeding finally didn't shank an important postseason kick.

But back to Sproles -- the kid was awesome from the start, and it was easily apparent at halftime that he deserves more credit for being an all-around back rather than just a kick returner. That type of flash continued throughout the second half -- one shoddy fumble near the goal line with the Chargers trailing aside -- and rolled right into overtime, when, following two crucial penalties by the Colts, Sproles ripped off a large touchdown run that quashed the Colts Super Bowl hopes and locked him in for some serious money later on.

LaDainian Tomlinson and Antonio Gates Keep Sitting Out Practice

LaDainian Tomlison on the sidelines with his helmet on. That was the image of the AFC Championship game last year, when the Patriots took out the Chargers 21-12. Tomlinson had two carries for five yards before leaving the game with a knee and being reduced to nothing more than a sideline fan.

The Chargers are hoping that doesn't happen again this Sunday against the Colts.

Tomlinson and star tight end Antonio Gates both missed their second straight practice on Thursday, Tomlinson with a sprained groin, Gates with a sprained ankle.

"If we were playing today he probably wouldn't play," coach Norv Turner said about Gates, the Pro Bowl tight end.

And L.T.? "Yeah, I think he would," the coach said.

"Both of them are a lot better than they have been," Turner said. "It really will be a Saturday decision, how they feel. We'll get them out there and run around and see how they feel. I'm optimistic about both of them."

It goes without saying that the Chargers will need all their offensive stars to overtake a team that won more games in November and December than San Diego did all season. The Colts have been rolling of late, and missing your top running back and second leading receiver isn't exactly optimal conditions when the MVP comes to town.

Even if LaDainian plays, Gates not being around hurts Philip Rivers and company. Vincent Jackson, Chris Chambers, I hope you guys have been paying attention in film class this week. The San Diego faithful might have to count on you if the Chargers are trying to mount a comeback at the end of the game.

Injuries To Watch: Week 8

Every week when the dinner bell rings on Friday evening, we'll be here to provide you a comprehensive commentary of the key injuries for the NFL weekend to follow. For those injuries that go right down to the wire, drop by our Fantasy Fanhouse expert live chat from 10am to 1pm EST every Sunday and we'll take care of you on those bloody game-time decisions. As always, please feel free to chime in with opinions, updates, and rumors in the comments.

The Arizona Cardinals

Anquan Boldin - After a well-timed bye week affording Boldin an extra week to rest his dome, he is expected to play on Sunday. Boldin allegedly lost about ten pounds though after having his jaw wired shut and slurping his food for two weeks. I'm in this predicament myself and plan to start him, but it's not an easy decision. If you have other quality options, it is probably worth waiting to see what he does this weekend.

The Baltimore Ravens

Derrick Mason - Unfortunately for Mason owners, who saw his value tick up after his six catch, 86 yard, one touchdown game last week, he was unable to practice this week with an undisclosed illness. Mason is not reliable enough to risk starting unless the illness dissipates completely.

The Carolina Panthers

D.J. Hackett - While I doubt too many people are reeling over Hackett's day-to-day status, he looks to be practicing lightly and should be available to play.

The Chicago Bears

Brandon Lloyd - Brandon Lloyd continues to nurse a sprained knee, so hopefully this week's bye should be the final stage in the waiting game. After a hot start to the season, owners are eagerly anticipating his return, but who knows what kind of shape he will be in upon returning.

Injuries To Watch: Week 7

Every week when the dinner bell rings on Friday evening, we'll be here to provide you a comprehensive injury report for the NFL weekend to follow.

Anquan Boldin - With a well-timed bye week affording Boldin an extra week to rest his dome, he looks to be on pace for a week 8 return.

The Buffalo Bills

Trent Edwards - Edwards is back at full speed and ready to go after suffering a frightening concussion in week 5. The Bills landed a bye in week 6, so he should be in good shape against the Chargers this week who have been disappointing against the pass.

The Chicago Bears

Brandon Lloyd - Brandon Lloyd continues to nurse a sprained knee that has kept him out of practice. It looks like yet another week of waiting for owners who hope that Brandon Lloyd will return for his ascent to Orton's #1 in Chicago.

Andre the Fantasy Giant: Week Seven Fantasy Football WR Rankings

FanHouse fantasy positional rankings are compiled weekly by the staff in order to provide answers to possible lineup questions. These are assuming most leagues use Fleaflicker's standard scoring structure. If you need clarification, you need more players ranked, or have funky league rules, feel free to shoot us an email question.

In the past two weeks, Andre Johnson has compiled 19 catches for 309 yards and two touchdowns. Matt Schaub found his groove last week against a Dolphins defense that locked down Philip Rivers the previous week. And this week, the Texans face the hapless Lions. Keep those heads ringin', because Sunday is 'Dre Day.

- Roy Williams is an interesting case. He gets a major upgrade in surroundings, but he's likely catching passes from Brad Johnson. It's only his first week ever in the NFL not on the Lions, but he's facing a terrible St. Louis secondary. I think he needs time to get acclimated into the offense and his surroundings. I'd gamble with him this week if Tony Romo was under center, but not Johnson.

- I love Chris Chambers if he goes. Keep an eye on that injury report. Please note that if he doesn't play, Vincent Jackson sees a significant boost.

- Calvin Johnson is going to play. His talent makes him a really good start, but it's going to be interesting to see what he can do with an awful QB, no running game, and no talented receiver taking pressure off him.

1. Andre Johnson, vs. DET
2. Brandon Marshall, @ NE
3. Reggie Wayne, @ GB
4. Plaxico Burress, vs. SF
5. Steve Smith, vs. NO

Don't Get Your Hopes Up: Another Boring Trade Deadline Awaits

There's a buzz growing around this year's trade deadline. After the busiest offseason of trade activity ever, there were still a lot of long-lingering rumors that have been growing on the vine through six weeks of the season. Now, with the trade deadline upon us, there seems to be a genuine feeling (or is it just hope?) that this deadline will be unlike the many dormant ones that have come before. Well, it's not going to happen. As far as movement is concerned, this deadline will be less Phil being taken out at a gas station and more Tony enjoying Journey over onion rings.

Regardless, here's a look at which players have the most trade-deadline buzz:

Tony Gonzalez: The new Jason Taylor (active Hall-of-Famer seeks new team with legitimate championship hopes) wants to be a veteran leader on a Lombardi team instead of a veteran leader teaching kids how to play pro football. The Chiefs claim that they're willing to oblige for the right price, but is the right price really the third-rounder they're reportedly asking for? I take it the answer is no, since the Giants, the team most heavily in pursuit of Gonzo, are offering a sixth-rounder. This seems like the perfect opportunity to employ conditional picks to protect both sides, but Carl Peterson has never been a GM really willing to play ball, and at this point I think the "willingness" to do what's right for Gonzalez is conjecture.

Injuries To Watch: Week 6

Every week when the dinner bell rings on Friday evening, we'll be here to provide you a comprehensive injury report for the NFL weekend to follow.

Anquan Boldin - Coach Whisenhunt left open the possibility of Q's return to action in Sunday's game against the Cowboys as he practiced lightly on Thursday. Still, with the bye week coming in Week 7, it doesn't make much sense to rush him back to action this week. Wait until closer to gametime to make a sit/start decision, but definitely plan on starting another receiver for week 6.

Roddy White - Roddy scared owners on Wednesday when a big in-practice collision kept him out of action and earned him a "Questionable" on the injury report. It looks like this was just precautionary, however, so he should be ready to go on Sunday.

The Baltimore Ravens

Willis McGahee - McGahee's injuries du jour, his knee and ribs, kept his practices very light and he sported the red no-contact jersey in practice. Expect him to play on Sunday, but with Le'Ron McClain continuing to mop up the goalline touchdowns and about a third of the carries.

The Buffalo Bills

Trent Edwards - Edwards sat out of practice Tuesday and was sent home on Wednesday as he is still woozy from the concussion suffered in last Sunday's game. The Bills have a bye this week, so it really doesn't matter; just keep an eye on him next week.

Will Tampa Bay Add a Receiver Before Next Tuesday's Trade Deadline?

Trades outside of draft weekend are so rare in the NFL these days that some people probably don't even know when the league's in-season trade deadline is (It's next Tuesday, by the way).

It's the exact opposite of say, Major League Baseball, where every fan in the league knows July 31 as the day. It's like a holiday on the league's calendar, as winning teams add their final piece to the puzzle, while losing teams look to gain some hope for next season. Having said that, there's been quite a few rumblings around the league the past few days about teams looking to swing a deal.

First, we had the news that Matt Millen laughingly tried to get DeMarcus Ware for Roy Williams, who may or may not be on the trade market. Then came a report that San Francisco might have interest in Bengals wide receiver T.J. Houshmanzadeh.
