After sustaining an ankle injury on the first play of the second quarter Monday night, Redskins tight end Chris Cooleywill reportedly miss the remainder of 2009. The Pro Bowl tight end will finish his season with 29 catches (a career low), 332 yards and two touchdowns, as he hauled in a pair of passes for 21 yards before leaving with the injury Monday night in the Redskins' 27-17 loss to the Eagles.
Head coach Jim Zorn would not confirm that Cooley's year is over, but did note that Cooley will "be out for a while."
""He's got a break in his ankle," Zorn said. "It's on the inner side of his tibia. I haven't seen the X-rays yet, but we're quite certain it's broke or fractured in some way; we'll have a better diagnosis tomorrow."
October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month and NFL players will show their support by sporting hot pink ... well, everything. In addition to being a workhorse, he was also something of an eccentric. Which makes his public feud with current Redskins' running back Clinton Portis sort of peculiar.
The Redskins have a request for the fans who sat through their 9-7 victory against the Rams on Sunday. They'd like them to stop booing, no matter how many times uncreative offensive play-calling causes their offense to stall inside the red zone. An understandable request, but they may get a more positive response if they stop calling their fans "dimwits" when making it in the future.
That's what linebacker Robert Henson called the booers in a post to his Twitter account following the contest.
"All you fake half hearted Skins fan can .. I won't go there but I dislike you very strongly, don't come to Fed Ex to boo dim wits!!"
When the Washington Redskins got the ball back with 1:32 left in the game, they were just three kneel-downs away from their first win of 2009. They were playing at home, yet there was an audible smattering of boos. On a victory? What gives?

And if anything Week 1 simply enhanced the notion, with at least 11 of the top 20 projected tight ends going over 60 yards and 11 total TDs mixed in. That's pretty solid if you ask me.
And so, this week we're gonna take the leap for Todd Heap. He was mentioned last week by R.J White as a sleeper for Week 1. Well, nobody should be sleeping this time, as he gets to face the Chargers who were simply awful against tight ends last season. And you may also recall that Zach Miller just throttled them on MNF. That said, Heap appears healthy and has a growing rapport with Joe Flacco. As for the rest of the rankings let's take a look.

In the second half of the season, though, the offensive line began to wear down and Jason Campbell wasn't productive enough downfield to take attention away from CP26. This season, there are reasons for optimism. The offensive line has been retooled. The growth of second-year wideouts Devin Thomas and Malcolm Kelly will give Campbell more reliable options in the passing attack in addition to the solid Chris Cooley and Santana Moss.
