Grappling With Honky Tonk Man About WrestleMania, Legends and Losses

It's not easy being the bad guy in professional wrestling. Just take it from one of the legends of World Wrestling Entertainment, Honky Tonk Man, who drew the ire of thousands of fans as an infamous "heel" throughout the late '80s and early '90s.

I had a chance recently to talk with Honky Tonk Man about his thoughts on pro wrestling, Sunday night's 25th Anniversary of WrestleMania and THQ's new Legends of WrestleMania video game. We also touched on sensitive topics like heated feuds and pro wrestlers dying before their time.

WWE Supports Chris Jericho After Scuffle With Fans in Canada

The above video (which is full of violence and profanity) shows the pro wrestler Chris Jericho getting into a scuffle outside a WWE show in Canada. And even though Jericho at one point appeared to knock a woman to the ground, the WWE has released a statement saying it supports Jericho as just trying to defend himself.

From the WWE's statement to TMZ:
"After leaving a live event in Victoria, British Columbia on Saturday evening, Chris Jericho's car was attacked by a mob when he was stopped at a stop sign. Unable to proceed, Chris Jericho exited his car to ask the crowd to clear a path so he could continue through the intersection. A man and a woman physically and verbally assaulted Mr. Jericho. Arena and WWE security arrived to establish enough order to allow Mr. Jericho to re-enter his vehicle and depart. The local police arrived minutes later. Mr. Jericho was unharmed in the incident. The WWE is working with local authorities who are investigating the incident to identify the man and woman who fled the scene."
It does appear that Jericho was just trying to drive off when the fans swarmed him, especially when you watch this video:

Still, if something like this happens again, Jericho would be wise to simply stay in his car and let security handle it. This could have been a lot uglier than it was.
