Dirk Nowitzki's Jailed Ex Not Pregnant

At the tail end of Dallas's playoff run, the live-in girlfriend of Mavericks star Dirk Nowitzki was arrested for violating parole. Speculation abounded that Dirk had hired a private investigator to look at his girlfriend's past, which turned up news that she had warrants out for her arrest. The 37-year-old woman, Cristal Taylor, later told the media that upon being booked in jail, a urine test revealed that she was pregnant -- and she claimed it was Dirk's child.

However, Nowitzki's lawyer told ESPN that a court-ordered pregnancy test has found that Taylor is not currently pregnant. No one knows whether Taylor miscarried or if she had never actually been pregnant. Dirk's camp maintained that Taylor was not pregnant with Dirk's child. (That belief might have been betrayed by the fact that Dirk filed for custody of the alleged unborn child in June.)

Dirk Nowitzki's Ex Claims She's Pregnant

There was little chance that the Dirk Nowitzki - Cristal Taylor saga was going to disappear quietly, even with the Mavericks eliminated from the playoffs. That small chance vanished, too, when Taylor held an interview with the Dallas Morning News from jail Monday and Tuesday.

Cavs Undefeated, and Will Be for a While

LeBron JamesCherry Picking recaps the previous day's NBA playoff action.

The Cavaliers are making a solid case for the NBA to institute a mercy rule. Not only have they won all six of their playoff games by double-digits, they've done so without allowing an opponent to score more than 85 points even once. They led the Hawks by 30 heading into the final quarter before finally taking their foot off the gas -- Cleveland's reserves gave back 10 points in the final quarter before the Cavs won by "only" 20.

Had Mike Brown allowed his starters to play the final quarter, it's possible the Cavs could have challenged Denver's 58-point margin in Game 4 of their first-round series with the Hornets, especially considering the Hawks lost Joe Johnson to a severely sprained ankle in the third quarter.

Nowitzki and the Mavericks Are Distracted

DALLAS -- The biggest controversy surrounding the Mavericks Dirk Nowitzki was in the playoffs a few years ago when he yelled at teammate Jason Terry for missing a defensive assignment that cost his team a series.

But with the Mavericks down 0-2 to the Nuggets in the Western Conference semifinals Nowitzki has moved into T.O. type territory. According to the Dallas Morning News and television station KTVT, Nowitzki kicked his girlfriend, Cristal Taylor, out his home on Wednesday morning and Dallas police arrested her on warrants accusing her of a probation violation and a theft charge.

KTVT reports that a friend of Taylor's said she was Nowitzki's fiancee. When Taylor was at a Dallas County jail, she took a urine test that determined she was pregnant.
