A Fun Year Continues For Kirk Ferentz

It was announced today by Kirk Ferentz that three players from Iowa's football team were transferring, and will not be on the roster next season.
Dominique Douglas, Cedric Everson and Abe Satterfield will leave the University of Iowa, Ferentz said.

"Dominique Douglas, Cedric Everson and Abe Satterfield have decided to transfer from the University of Iowa and will continue their collegiate football careers elsewhere," Ferentz said in his statement. "None of the three will be on Iowa's roster when classes resume in January."
None of this should come as that big of a surprise. Satterfield and Everson haven't been in Ferentz' good graces for a while though, as he stated earlier this season, but never gave a reason for.

Douglas, however, we know his story. Dominique may have been Iowa's leading receiver as a freshman in 2006, but he never saw the field in 2007. Apparently coach Ferentz isn't a big fan of his players committing credit card fraud, which Douglas and teammate Anthony Bowman did back in May.

Douglas pled guilty to the charge earlier this month, and though he's still waiting to be sentenced, it won't likely be much after he pays Hatworld the $221.53 he owes them.

Two Hawkeyes in Deep Trouble, but Flush With Hats

Sophomore Iowa receivers Dominque Douglas and Anthony Bowman are possibly former Iowa receivers after getting arrested for some felonizing:
Two Iowa Hawkeye football wide receivers have been arrested for allegedly running up more than $2,000 in charges using stolen credit cards last May. Dominique Douglas, the Hawkeyes' top receiver last year, and Anthony Bowman were arrested Sunday,
Neither player is exactly a criminal mastermind. Purchases with two stolen credit cards were made from university computers -- the ones that require specific student ID logins -- from C&E Fashions, Sneakerhead, and (drumroll.....) Hatworld(!). I mean, not that I've ever meticulously plotted how to utilize stolen credit cards but, um, can't you make your illegal purchases on a coffee shop's public wifi or something?

The Hawkeye Compulsion is not so pleased:
These two wiseguys stole credit cards, went to an Athletic Department computer (which I can assume required them to sign in with their own ID), and ordered hats. Yes, hats. I could see using them to order jet skis and rims for the whip but they went to Hatworld and Sneakerhead. The youth of America worries me.
Douglas was Iowa's leading receiver as a true freshman and made various freshman All-America teams; Bowman played on special teams and was a ways down the depth chart. If Douglas and Bowman get booted Andy Brodell and Trey Stross are Iowa's starting wide receivers by default. Even though Brodell is the new Tim Dwight, that would hurt the Iowa offense badly.
