Ready or Not, Here Comes Todd Duffee

All signs point to Todd Duffee facing Paul Buentello at UFC 107 in December. MMA Junkie first reported the bout over the weekend, and FanHouse has learned that it is close to being finalized.

FanHouse recently spoke to the 23-year-old UFC rookie about his stellar Octagon debut in August, why he was hesitant to fight in the UFC this early in his career and his unique nickname. The full interview is below.

Lyle Beerbohm: From Prison Inmate to Undefeated MMA Fighter

Lyle Beerbohm will attempt to run his professional mixed martial arts record to 10-0 on Friday night when he steps into the cage against Duane Ludwig at the Strikeforce Challenger Series event in Kent, Wash. But whether Beerbohm wins or loses, he's come a long way from where he was three years ago, in a very different kind of cage.

Beerbohm spent a year and a half at the Washington State Penitentiary in Walla Walla, Wash., as a result of multiple felony convictions, all related to his crystal meth addiction. But Beerbohm discovered MMA while locked up, and he knew he had found his new calling.

In an interview with FanHouse, the 30-year-old Beerbohm opened up about his life before, during and after his stint in prison.

Duane Ludwig on Bas Rutten: 'He's the Human Version of a Jack Russell Terrier'

There's something so lovable about Bas Rutten. He was one of the best mixed martial arts fighters of the 1990s and who can instantly move between an intense stare and a mischievous grin.

At least, that's his persona on television. Is he like that in real life, too? I asked Duane Ludwig, the Strikeforce fighter who has trained with Rutten, what the real Bas is like.

"You ever seen a Jack Russell Terrier dog, how intense those things are?" Ludwig said. "He's the human version of that. He's so intense, and he goes and he goes and he's so energetic. He gets you in shape. He's an intense individual who knows the game, knows the right way to train every fighter, he recognizes that there isn't one style for everybody and will find the best style for you."

Right now, Rutten is best known to casual fans for training Kimbo Slice. And a Jack Russell Terrier personality might be just the right thing to whip Kimbo into shape.

Duane Ludwig on Cutting Weight for MMA: 'Train the Body to Piss Regularly'

When you talk to an average person who isn't into boxing, wrestling or mixed martial arts, they're amazed at how much weight a competitor can cut prior to a weigh-in.

It sounds crazy that the average person will spend all year on the treadmill to try to fulfill the New Year's resolution of losing 15 pounds, and then you'll hear about a fighter who lost 15 pounds in a couple of days to make weight for a fight. But it happens.

Of course, that's all water weight. And in talking today to the MMA fighter Duane Ludwig (who fights Sam Morgan on Friday night's Strikeforce card), I learned one technique of a man who says he can easily cut 10% of his body weight in 24 hours.
