Edwards, Defense Lead Bills in 16-13 Victory

The Buffalo Bills first team offense left a lot to be desired in their final preseason contest. Although J.P. Losman and the passing game functioned relatively well, running the ball appeared to be nearly impossible. Rookie running back Marshawn Lynch managed only nine yards on six carries with a long of nine yards. However, and to his credit, the Lions were blitzing quite a bit and he had precious little room to work with.

Unlike the offense, the Bills first team defense made a statement. Although their performance may not look beautiful in the box score, they made plays when their backs were against the wall and halted a few Detroit drives. All in all, it was a rather impressive performance that should leave fans with optimistic thoughts heading into the season opener.

Another reason Bills fans should be optimistic was the performance of their second and third team offenses. Led by Trent Edwards, who is magician at selling the play-action, they were able to consistently move the football. In addition to Edwards impressive play, was the equally impressive play from back-up running back Fred Jackson, who many Bills fans believe is the preseason MVP.

Buffalo Bills @ New Orleans Saints: Week One Preseason Injury Report

Taking into account that it's the preseason, many of the players sitting on the sidelines tonight would normally be on the field if it was a meaningful game. With that said, I'm sure most fans would like to know who they should expect to see this evening. For that reason, I've done by best to create an accurate injury report -- official reports are not posted until week one of the regular season.

Buffalo Bills:

Out: Tackle Brad Butler (hamstring) and running back Josh Scobey (calf).

Questionable: Guard Aaron Merz (shoulder) and safety Donte Whitner (hip)

Probable: Running back Dwayne Wright (allergies) and cornerback Jason Webster (hamstring).

Bills Rookie Running Back Hospitalized After Allergic Reaction

It would be an understatement to suggest that rookie running back Dwayne Wright had a bad day this past Tuesday. The Bills fourth-round draft pick awoke and immediately knew something was wrong. His lip and jaw were swollen and a trip to the hospital was imminent.

But how could it have happened? Unfortunately, Wright unknowingly ate a sandwich wrap at the teams practice facility on Monday night that had some tomato residue in it. Obviously, that's bad news for someone who is allergic to tomatoes.

Shortly after his stressful wake-up call, Wright found himself in the hospital ... for 13 straight hours.

"Oh yeah, it was a scary thing," Wright said, referring to waking up Tuesday morning with a swollen lip and jaw. "But no problems. I'm here ready to work. I was calm, but I was telling [the doctors] that I need to get back to work at the same time."
And getting back to work is exactly what he did. Wright returned to the team on Wednesday and assumed his role on offense, where he is battling three other running backs for playing time.
