Studs and Duds, Week 6: Back to Brady

Each week in the NFL, there are players that impress and players that distress. One week a certain quarterback might toss four touchdowns and run around pointing skyward, while the next he's laying on his back, holding his facemask as the other team returns one of his three interceptions for the game-winning score. With that in mind, here's Studs and Duds.

Studs

Tom Brady, QB New England (29 of 34, 380 yards, 6 TDs) -- People were questioning his knee this season. He seemed jittery in the pocket, made throws he didn't used to make, and wasn't leading the Patriots like he had during those three Super Bowl years and undefeated regular season in 2008.

Andy Reid's Sons Tied to Gun, Drug Paraphernalia

We mentioned the two traffic incidents involving Andy Reid's sons yesterday, but today it turns out that these incidents were more serious than we previously realized.

Witnesses told Plymouth Township police officers that Garrett Reid, 24, was behind the wheel of an SUV that sped down Germantown Pike, ran a red light at Arch Road, and 't-boned' a car driven by a 55-year-old woman.

Police say when they looked inside Garrett Reid's Jeep Liberty, they found drug paraphernalia. So they had Reid take a blood test at a local hospital....

At the same time, not far away, Andy Reid's younger son Britt got into his own trouble.

Police say Garrett called Britt to the scene of the car crash... But investigators say Britt got into an argument with another driver, and during the confrontation a gun was displayed.

We still don't have all the facts, but these are serious allegations. Reid hasn't said anything and the Eagles call it a private matter, but Reid will no doubt have to comment publicly at some point, and the victims in these incidents will likely have something to say, too.

Donovan McNabb to the Lions for Second Overall Pick?

Donovan McNabb seems like a nice guy. You'd hate to see something like this happen to him. Getting shipped to the Detroit Lions is like getting sent to Leavenworth. But that's the rumor that's being circulated, both in the Ann Arbor News and in Miami during Super Bowl festivities, that the Eagles could send McNabb to the Lions for the second overall pick in the draft, and in turn use that pick for Notre Dame quarterback Brady Quinn.

McNabb will speak publicly for the first time since his November knee injury today, and he might be asked about the vocal minority of Eagles fans who would like to see him sent packing. We already know McNabb has some gripes. Would the Eagles really want to get rid of him and build the franchise around a rookie?

That seems highly unlikely. The Eagles could be a legitimate Super Bowl contender in 2007, and bringing in a rookie quarterback would be a rebuilding move. The real story here may be how hungry NFL fans are for any kind of information about their teams. The Eagles have been out of it for two weeks, and the Lions have been out of it for six years. Fans of both teams just want to hear something juicy, and McNabb to the Lions definitely fits.

Stay Off the Road When Andy Reid's Sons Are Driving

Well this isn't good. One of Andy Reid's sons ran a red light and rammed his vehicle into a woman's car, seriously injuring her. Then Reid's other son heard about the accident and started driving to it, only to get into some kind of road rage incident on the way.

Police say a black jeep liberty being driven by Reid's 23-year-old son, Garrett, apparently ran a red light and struck a red Taurus.

The impact demolished the car sending papers all over the roadway and trapping the woman driver.

She was taken to the University of Pennsylvania Medical Center in serious condition.

Garrett Reid was not injured and is said to be cooperating with police.

He apparently called his 21-year-old brother, Britt, to say he was in an accident.

Investigators say Britt was apparently on his way to accident scene when he got into some sort of incident along Matson Ford Road.

Reid has five children, and Garrett and Britt are the two oldest. I wouldn't want to be a driver's ed teacher with the rest of the kids on the way.
