You have to hand it to the marketing geniuses at Eastern Motors here in the Washington area. Using their blog and other viral marketing tools, they've been sharing short segments of an upcoming ad featuring Washington Capitals winger Alex Ovechkin -- and we just can't help but eat it up. On Saturday, we shared two clips shot behind the scenes at Eastern, and now, courtesy once again of DC Sports Bog, we have this clip of Ovechkin singing Eastern's famous jingle. As you might imagine, we're eagerly awaiting the finished product.

By now you know how highly I think of the Rockies, you know, with six straight seasons being under .500 by at least ten games and all, but even I was impressed when I saw that the Rockies were trying to step up their marketing efforts

Coming soon to a TV near you: High-quality, well-produced - and hopefully humorous - commercials promoting the Rockies' 2007 season. It's the first TV advertising campaign by the Rockies since 1993, their inaugural season. "I can't give away the plots, but I think they are hilarious," said Jay Alves, Rockies vice president of communications.

That's impressive Colorado, gotta do something to attract the fans. But by calling them hilarious means you'll have a lot to live up to -- and certainly when it comes to athletes appearing in commercials -- you are measured by the standards set by the Eastern Motors series. Witness pure genius:

Anytime I have the opportunity to mix in an Eastern Motors commercial, you better believe I'm going to do it.
