Eddy Curry Talks About His 16 Tattoos

Chicago native and New York Knicks center Eddy Curry has 16 of his tattoos. After the jump, he talks about every one of them. Along the way he also offers advice to teenagers thinking of getting some ink ("A mom and dad tat" can help the parents come around), explains that the "Angels and Demons" tattoo on his calf took two six-hour sessions and was "excruciating ... I'm talking about pretty painful." (Duly noted.)

The best part: Curry's retelling of Bulls guard Anthony Roberson's tat.

That and the video below.

Knicks on Eddy Curry: 'Not Ready'

Man, Eddy Curry spends his entire summer working the Stairmaster and eating like a vegan caveman and he still can't get fit enough for his Knickerbocker bosses. Curry tweaked his calf within the first days of training camp, and that (plus ongoing fitness issues) had Knicks prez Donnie Walsh telling reporters things like "When he can get out here and do it without pulling something, we'll bring him back."

Walsh is rarely this direct; you'd never see the Knicks discuss Danilo Gallinari's back injury (which plagued the 2008-09 season) in this fashion. But Curry's reported lack of effort in the gym prior to this summer hasn't earned the big fellow the right of indignation, I suppose.

In the foreseeable absence of Curry, the Knicks will roll with various levels of David Lee, Darko Milicic and rookie Jordan Hill at center.

Will Wade Continue to Punish Orlando?

NBA Guide gives you a daily look at all the games that matter ... and some that don't.

Orlando at Miami, 7:30 PM ET

Dwyane Wade has had plenty of big scoring nights against the Orlando Magic, including a 50-spot against them earlier this season. Will it continue tonight? Probably -- in his last six games against Orlando, Wade is averaging over 37 points per game.

Eddy Curry's Son Witnesses Murder of His Mother, Sister

The New York Daily News reports that Eddy Curry's three-year-old son witnessed the murder of his mother Nova Henry and his baby sister Ava in Chicago on Saturday. Curry has not been involved with the woman for a while; the police indicate the woman's most recent boyfriend is the lead suspect.

The News reports that Henry has claimed Ava was Curry's daughter, and the Knick has denied that adamantly. Ava was nine months old. Curry also has four children with his wife Patrice.

Curry's life has looked like a ongoing tragedy of late. He and Patrice were robbed at gunpoint inside their Chicago home two summers ago. Earlier this month, details of a shocking lawsuit pressed by Curry's longtime driver were made public. The driver accused Curry of sexual harassment, making racial epithets and pulling a gun.

Knicks' Eddy Curry Is Being Sued for Sexual Harassment by ... Another Man

Warning: this one's a little crazy, even for the insatiable New York media types. Knicks center Eddy Curry was handed a sexual harassment lawsuit on Monday, which normally wouldn't be all that surprising -- especially considering the example that was set by the team's former president, Isiah Thomas.

But the shock comes when you realize that this lawsuit was actually filed by a dude: Curry's former driver, David Kuchinsky.

If the man-on-man harassment case didn't grab your attention at first glance, then maybe some of the details will.

Doing Lines: A BCS Muted Slate of Games

Every night there are some stupendous, silly, stupid, or downright outlandish individual lines from around the lig. Doing Lines lets you know which one tops the list.

Yeah, every night there are some stupendous lines. Thursday night, they were just stupendously bad! On an night when the BCS Championship game took over most of America's televisions, the NBA made sure to only have two very underwhelming games schedule. Knicks v. Mavs and Clippers v. Spurs. Yep, they might have been better off not having any games.

Gator Tribute Falls Short: David Lee tried to pay tribute to his Florida Gators with a 13 point, 15 rebound night. However, his team didn't hold up their end of the bargain, as they lost to the Mavs 99-94. In that game, Eddy Curry also saw his first action of the season, scoring 2 points and grabbing 2 points in 3 minutes of action. Yipee!

All-Stars Underwhelm: How bad were last nights games? Well the two best players playing last night both had off nights. Dirk Nowitzki and Tim Duncan combined to score 18 points on 7-24 shooting. Gross! It was as if the two of them realized no one was watching and figured it would be okay to take a night off. Not cool guys...not cool at all. UPDATE: Nowitzki gets a pass, since he played through a fever. Although Michael Jordan and Kobe Bryant would laugh at such an excuse (even in the regular season). But still, you get my point.

Don't worry, the league will make up for Thursday's irrelevance with a few gems and a full slate of games tonight. Check the NBA Guide later today for the details.

David Lee Might Not Be Going Anywhere

As Tom Ziller pointed out over the weekend, rumblings of a three-way deal between the Knicks, Blazers and Clippers surfaced a few days ago. Exact details of the alleged trade were never clear, but it seemed to hinge on David Lee (and potentially Eddy Curry) heading to Portland, Marcus Camby returning to New York and, well, someone going to the Clippers.

Now that a couple of days have passed without movement, the trade appears to be dead in the water -- and if you believe the parties involved, it may not have ever been alive in the first place.

Eddy Curry Gets Sued for Not Paying His Shopping Tab at Casual Male Retail Store

Eddy Curry has had a tough life, insofar as an NBA basketball player can (although most of it can be attributed to his work ethic I suppose). But not so tough that he should be subjected to the latest humiliation headed his way: he's being sued by Casual Male, where he allegedly spent $41,000 on clothes and then failed to pay off his bill.

Curry racked up a bill of more than $41,000 at Casual Male Retail Group, and two years later it remains unpaid, the suit says.

The company says Curry owes an additional $5,424 in interest from his 2006 shopping sprees.

''It's just a matter of him buying clothing he didn't pay for,'' said Edward Margolis, the attorney representing Casual Male and Jared M. Custom Clothing, a business popular with professional athletes that once was owned by Casual Male.
Curry supposedly bought almost $4,000 in ties and $22,000 in suits, which, um, yeah, seems a bit freaking absurd. But then again, if you're going to be non-rebounding, non-defensive playing baller in the NYC, you've got to bring your A-game when it comes to clothes.

The only downside to this whole story really is that the store's name doesn't involve "Big and Tall" or "Husky Ballers". (Glorious Update: Turns out Casual Male is a big and tall. Sweet.) But, on the bright side, there's any number of "uncomfortable place" jokes just waiting to be abused if Curry refuses to pay.

Charlotte as a 60-Day Layover for Old Suns Boris Diaw and Raja Bell

A clever rumor from Frank Isola of the New York Daily News cites a source who indicates the Bobcats rushed their deal for Boris Diaw and Raja Bell through in order to leave enough cushion before the deadline to flip the new players. The trade deadline is February 19.

Players acquired by trade during the season cannot be packaged with another player in a second trade until 60 days have passed. The Bobcats completed the Diaw/Bell trade last Wednesday, which gave them 70 days until the deadline.

But where on Earth could Diaw and/or Bell be headed? Alan Hahn of Newsday has the predictable suggestion.
The Knicks were very much interested in acquiring both Raja Bell and Boris Diaw, but with Mike D'Antoni now in New York after a bitter divorce from the Suns, they were not going to come directly from Phoenix. [...]

Another source has said the Bobcats have maintained interest in Eddy Curry, who has yet to play this season because of a bone bruise in his left knee.
And scene. If this happens -- any of the old Suns to N.Y. for Curry -- Charlotte's moves begin to make sense and infuriate all the more. Jason Richardson is a phenomenal scorer, the best the Bobcats had by a big margin. Curry's only attribute is scoring. It's just like Larry Brown to prefer a post scorer to a guard gunner.

And while that's good basketball theory, he's ignoring that Curry (who he dealt with in N.Y.) is a huge defensive liability who cannot rebound or block shots, while Richardson was a tough dude with a good spirit and some floor skills. No one on the planet could argue the Bobcats would win a Richardson-for-Curry trade. But then again, no one thought Charlotte won the Diaw-for-Richardson swap either.

Al Harrington Isn't One of Don Nelson's Dudes

Bay Area media types wrestled over the legitimacy of Al Harrington's reported trade request the last few days. On Wednesday, any lingering questions about whether Harrington wants out were squelched as, erm, Harrington told Marcus Thompson III of the Contra Costa Times he wants out.

By itself, that's not terribly exciting. But Harrington's reasons sure pry open the Golden State Pandora's box a little bit.
"I don't think me and Coach is going to work out - because I feel like he uses me in certain ways and I don't think that's going to change. We all know how Nellie is. We all know his history. If you're not one of his dudes, you ain't never going to be one of his dudes. And that's the truth."
For his part, Don Nelson questions how any player could be unhappy in his system, where you're allowed to shoot as soon as you cross mid-court. Nellie simplifies things a little too much in that assessment: isolation basketball (Harrington's strength) isn't the same as Helter Skelter run-and-chuck (Nellie's system). But Nelson is correct in noting that Harrington should be happier with the Golden State way than most other systems.

The most interesting trade rumor at this point is a bit related to this discussion. Tim Kawakami says the Knicks have offered Eddy Curry for Harrington, but the Warriors are pushing for David Lee and salary scraps. Mike D'Antoni sells an offense more disciplined than the system in Oakland ... but I'm not sure Harrington would end up doing more than chucking threes regardless.
