Vicente Padilla hit a little bit of a speed bump in his Friday start against the Giants, giving up four runs in five innings and depriving the Team from another win. Still, we have better than a 3/1 K/BB ratio in September, which is exactly what Padilla gave us yesterday (3 strikeouts, 1 walk). Jon Garland is pitching for us today, and he's well on his way to another win and another great performance.

Well, that was ugly. After a promising first start three days ago, the Stream Team took a quick nosedive with my last two picks, including Felipe Paulino's horrendous start against the Giants last night. But since whatever doesn't kill us makes us stronger, it's time to pick up the pieces and see if we can put together enough quality outings to alleviate the damage done to the Stream Team's ERA and WHIP. Some people will look at Felipe Paulino, see an ERA of 5.51 and a WHIP of 1.54, and pass. But delve deeper into the numbers and you start to realize the poor ratios aren't indicative of Paulino's talent. After a pretty good April, Paulino came out of the pen three times in early May before the Astros gave him another start. This seemed to throw off Paulino's rhythm, as he was knocked around in three May starts before landing on the DL in early June with a groin strain.
