Brett Favre Makes Brief Cameo at Lambeau Field For Packer Hall Of Fame

Kudos to Brett Favre and the Packers organization for trying to keep Saturday's Packer Hall of Fame ceremony about the inductees. Gilbert Brown, Frank Winters and Al Treml were all being honored.

Of course, any news about Green Bay centers around Brett Favre. This was especially so since Favre was there to present Winters into the Hall of Fame. He spoke for three minutes, chatted with reporters (about Winters career) and then bounced.
"That's the thing about Green Bay," said Favre, who spoke for about three minutes. "It's a special place. There's a lot of tradition. You think of the Packers, you think of all these great names, and to be a part of that - and I know Frank feels honored - is a special thing. I'm thankful that he asked me to be here."

Oh, and Favre also received a team MVP award from his outstanding 2007 season.

Aside from seeing Favre against that green and gold backdrop, there wasn't any real discussion of Favre's un-retirement. Sure, reporters threw a few questions out there, but everyone brushed them off.

To me, that's good. Despite the photo op, this was a night to honor Brown, Winters and Treml ... three men that didn't ask to be in this crossfire. Favre, despite bringing the media circus with him, should have been there. Winters is a teammate and a good friend and those things shove aside beef between the team and the QB.

At least for one night.

Packers Notebook: Saturday, July 14th

Former Packer gets robbed: Frank Winters, who played for the Packers from 1992 to 2002, recently had his home broken into. Thieves stole both his 1997 NFC Championship ring and his 1997 Super Bowl Ring, as well as autographed photos of Mickey Mantle, Joe DiMaggio, Brett Favre and Bart Starr and his Jeep SUV.

Packers donate to charity: The Green Packers, doing what they do best, donated over $5,790 to the Boys & Girls Club of Green Bay this week. The funding came from the Packers FanTiXchange.

Green Bay locks up a rookie: The Packers and fourth-round draft pick Allen Barbre reached a contract agreement this past week. The deal will be for four-years and $2.1 million. Barbre was the fifth Packers rookie to sign a contract.
